What is your opinion, O Shaykh, regarding al-Ghazali's rejection of some hadiths, including his rejection of the hadith: (Beef is a disease), and his claim that it contradicts the Qur'an, and so on?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What is your opinion, O Shaykh, regarding al-Ghazali's rejection of some hadiths, including his rejection of the hadith:
Beef is a disease لحم البقر داء
, and his claim that it contradicts the Qur'an, and so on? And do you have, O Shaykh, a book or a work to refute al-Ghazali on this matter?

The Shaykh : We have seen and heard more than we have seen, that many scholars and students of knowledge have refuted him. In truth, he was a man from whom deviation from the Sunnah was perceived since old times. But as they say about him: "The measure overflowed, and the veil was lifted", and what was hidden before became apparent. His thought was Mu'tazilah, his thought was that of the people of opinion who used to prioritize their opinions over authentic hadiths. And in reality, and I say this frankly, even though we lived together in some circumstances, sometimes we would meet with him at the Islamic University in the Supreme Council for years, and I met with him in Qatar and stayed in the hotel for two weeks or so, and the house I stayed in was opposite his house. We would meet and discuss, and I would see in him a deviation from the Sunnah and the application of opinion. Until once we were invited in Qatar to Shaykh Ibrahim al-Ansari, and a question was directed, and I have now forgotten how the topic developed. The matter reached the greeting of the mosque on Friday while the imam was delivering the sermon. He said with complete boldness: I do not see that the imam is delivering the sermon and a person enters the mosque and begins the greeting of the mosque. We said to him: O Shaykh, but this contradicts the authentic hadith that came in the two Sahihs from his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
If one of you enters the mosque on Friday and the imam is delivering the sermon, let him not sit until he prays two rak'ahs, and let him be brief in them. إذا دخل أحدكم المسجد يوم الجمعة والإمام يخطب فلا يجلس حتى يصلي ركعتين وليتجوز فيهما
. He said: Imam Malik said so and so. We said: But how can the hadith of the Messenger be rejected by the opinion of an imam from among the imams of the Muslims?!
Should it not be said here: "When the report comes, the opinion is void, and when the river of Allah comes, the river of Ma'qil is void", as they used to say in old times? The important thing is that deviation appeared in him in some matters, but his opinions were not codified as he did in this book he recently published, in which the conclusion of the ruling on him is that he is from the people of Mu'tazilah and opinion. Many people have refuted him, including the excellent, the moderate, the strict, and the lenient with him to the end. People differ in their temperaments and in their knowledge, but in any case, his book was a cause for exposing himself, and if he had concealed himself, that would have been better for him. And Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is the One who reveals what you were concealing.
