A reminder that it is a recommended practice (sunnah) to offer the greeting of peace when parting.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : But the thing I want to remind you of now is that many of those who are keen to offer the greeting of peace when meeting do not care about offering the greeting of peace when parting. Here is the warning: those who care about offering the greeting when meeting do not care, and do not pay attention or heed, to offering the greeting when parting. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say:
When one of you enters a gathering, let him offer the greeting of peace, and when he leaves, let him offer the greeting of peace. The first is not more deserving than the second. إذا دخل أحدكم المجلس فليسلم، وإذا خرج فليسلم فليست الأولى بأحق من الأخرى
This is what I wanted to remind you of, because I have found in most of the countries I have traveled to and entered that they neglect offering the greeting when parting. In fact, two people may be walking together, and then one of them turns away, and his companion does not notice that he has turned away because he did not say "peace be upon you" when parting. Even though the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) clarified in the last hadith that the greeting when parting is like the greeting when meeting, and that this greeting when meeting is not more deserving than the greeting when parting:
When one of you enters a gathering, let him offer the greeting of peace, and when he leaves, let him offer the greeting of peace. The first is not more deserving than the second. إذا دخل أحدكم المجلس فليسلم، وإذا خرج فليسلم فليست الأولى بأحق من الأخرى
This is a reminder, and the reminder benefits the believers.
