What is your opinion of those who say: The hadith scholars have no fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), and their fiqh is superficial, whereas the jurists’ fiqh is deep?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Shaykh, some people say that the hadith scholars have no fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and that their fiqh is superficial.

The Shaykh : What Allah willed!

The questioner : Whereas the jurists’ fiqh is deep in insight, or something like that. What is your comment on this? This is found among some students of knowledge!

Another questioner : From the predecessors or the successors?

The questioner : The successors.

The Shaykh : Are these people who say this kind of thing jurists?

The questioner : I do not think so.

The Shaykh : No, certainly they are not jurists; rather, they are ignorant. There is no response to these people except to put them before reality: we bring them some of the modern matters and see what their fiqh is, may Allah will it, in these matters, and then where do they derive it from? And I do not see much benefit in focusing on refuting the doubts of these people, because it is absolute ignorance. We must return them to the original principle. If they respond, that is good and excellent; otherwise, we say to them:
Say, "You will not be asked about what we committed, and we will not be asked about what you do." لا تُسْئَلُونَ عَمَّا أَجْرَمْنا وَلا نُسْئَلُ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ
[Saba 34:25]
