What is the way to know the Prophetic Sunnah after the death of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And a second introduction: What is the way to know the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) when he is no longer among us, so that we could return to him, consult him, and take the ruling that Allah revealed to him directly from his noble mouth to our ears? There is no way to do that. Does that mean that Islam died with the death of the one to whom Islam was revealed?
The answer: No, and praise be to Allah. Islam remains and will continue to remain alive by the preservation of the Book and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) among the Muslims until the Day when Allah will not leave on the face of the earth anyone who says: "Allah, Allah," as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith that Imam Muslim also narrated in his *Sahih* from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:. And the meaning of this is not as some Sufis claim, who exaggerated by deviating from the Sunnah by clinging to what is ambiguous in their understanding of the hadith. They said: "The Hour will not be established while there is on the face of the earth anyone who remembers Allah with the singular name, saying: Allah, Allah, Allah, Allah, and so on, until their speech ends up with no comprehensible meaning, where they say: Ah, ah, ah, ah." This is not, praise be to Allah, what is intended by his previous statement (peace and blessings be upon him): . The intended meaning is the one who affirms the oneness of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He). This is what came explicitly in a narration reported by Imam Ahmad in his *Musnad* for this hadith with the wording: . That is, the word of majesty in the first narration is an allusion to the tawhid (oneness of Allah) that saves the one who says it on the Day of Allah from eternal abode in the Fire, no matter what his sins are, as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the hadith that al-Bazzar narrated in his *Musnad* and others in other works with the wording: Sahih al-Bukhari 5401.
I return to say: It is not possible to understand Islam except by the way of the Sunnah, because the Sunnah is the clarification to which Allah (Mighty and Majestic) referred in the previous verse:[An-Nahl 16:44]. So whoever rejects the Sunnah has rejected the Qur'an, and whoever doubts the Sunnah has doubted the Qur'an. There is no value to the noise that may be heard from some people saying that Islam is the Qur'an. It is self-evident, if the matter is so, or perhaps it is more correct to say: If the matter is so, meaning that Islam is only the Qur'an, how does the one who prays pray, and how does he perform Hajj, and how does he perform 'Umrah, and how does he pay zakah? From where does he take the details of these pillars except from the Sunnah and the clarification in the Qur'an?!
After all this, we can say: The first hadith:Sahih Muslim 203 must be used to interpret every text in the Qur'an that cannot be correctly understood except by the way of the Sunnah, as I mentioned earlier. There is the noble verse: [Al-Isra 17:15]. Many of the people of desires, both ancient and modern, whether they are known by old names or new names, from the Mu'tazilah and their followers in the present age, cannot understand this noble verse: [Al-Isra 17:15] except by the way of the Sunnah.

لا تقوم الساعة وعلى وجه الأرض من يقول: لا إله إلا اللهNarrated 'Urban bin Malik: who attended the Badr battle and was from the Ansar, that he came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "O Allah's Apostle! I have lost my eyesight and I lead my people in the prayer (as an Imam). When it rains, the valley which is between me and my people, flows with water, and then I cannot go to their mosque to lead them in the prayer. O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! I wish that you could come and pray in my house so that I may take it as a praying place. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Allah willing, I will do that." The next morning, soon after the sun had risen, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came with Abu Bakr. The Prophet (ﷺ) asked for the permission to enter and I admitted him. The Prophet (ﷺ) had not sat till he had entered the house and said to me, "Where do you like me to pray in your house?" I pointed at a place in my house whereupon he stood and said, "Allahu Akbar." We lined behind him and he prayed two rak`at and finished it with Taslim. We then requested him to stay for a special meal of Khazira which we had prepared. A large number of men from the adjoining area gathered in the house. One of them said, "Where is Malik bin Ad-Dukhshun?" Another man said, "He is a hypocrite and does not love Allah and His Apostle." The Prophet said, "Do not say so. Do you not think that he has said: "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah," seeking Allah's pleasure? The man said, "Allah and His Apostle know better, but we have always seen him mixing with hypocrites and giving them advice." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Allah has forbidden the (Hell) Fire for those who testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, seeking Allah's pleasure. "
