Giving Zakah to Poor Relatives

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: I have a group of full brothers and sisters, and each of them has a large family and does not have much to cover the expenses of their children's education. I am in a better situation, praise be to Allah. Is it permissible for me to distribute my zakah to them, on the condition that I do not inform them that this money is my zakah, in order to avoid embarrassment and out of fear that they might not accept it if they knew?

Answer: Giving zakah to people like these is permissible, because they are in need of it as long as their income does not suffice for their essential needs. Giving zakah to them is prescribed, but you do not give it to everyone; rather, you give it to their guardian who is responsible for them, the one who spends on them and supports them.
As for informing them that it is zakah or not, this depends on what is in the interest. If the interest lies in not informing them, do not inform them. If the interest lies in informing them, then inform them. The criterion is whether they are eligible or not. If they are not eligible, it is not permissible for you to give to them. If they are eligible, it is prescribed to give to them. Whether to inform them or not, this depends on the interest in this matter.
