Continuing the answer to a question about the verses of the attributes: are they ambiguous or clear?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In this sense, it means that these verses have known meanings in the Arabic language, so they are not ambiguous. However, in terms of the manner, they are ambiguous, because it is not possible for us to know the manner of the Essence of Allah, and consequently, it is not possible for us to know the manner of the attributes of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Therefore, some of the imams of hadith, namely Abu Bakr al-Khatib, the author of the history known as the History of Baghdad, said: "Regarding the attributes, what is said regarding the Essence is said, both in negation and affirmation. What is said regarding the attributes is what is said regarding the Essence. Just as we affirm the Essence and do not deny it—this denial being absolute—so we say regarding the attributes: we affirm them and do not deny them. But just as we do not ask how the Essence is, we do not ask how the attributes are." This is the answer to what is in the question.
