One who used to steal some money from his relatives, and Allah has granted him the grace of repentance, but he fears that returning these funds will cause problems; what should he do?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says: One who used to steal some money from his relatives. And Allah has granted him the grace of repentance, but he fears that returning these funds will cause problems?

The Shaykh : Did he steal it by theft? I say: Did he steal it by theft?

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : No. It is easy, there is no problem, if Allah wills. He should look for a trustworthy, honest person and inform him of the reality, saying: May Allah reward you with good. Give it to its owners, on the condition that this person is trustworthy with the owners of the money. And if this is not possible, there is another method, which is: to send it by registered or express mail and write a note in handwriting other than his own: These are coins that a thief stole from you, and now he is returning them to you. Yes.
