All the schools in my governorate, which is the Idlib Governorate, have mixed classes with boys and girls, and the girls are extremely uncovered, especially in my school. It is not possible, indeed, a person cannot do anything but speak with them through the lessons. What is the ruling of the Shari'ah in this? Please inform us, may Allah reward you a thousand times.

The questioner : All the schools in my governorate, which is the Idlib Governorate, have mixed classes with boys and girls, and the girls are extremely uncovered, especially in my school. It is not possible, indeed, a person cannot do anything but speak with them through the lessons. What is the ruling of the Shari'ah in this? Please inform us, may Allah guide you?

The Shaykh : If you please, let me repeat the question one more time?

The questioner : All the schools in my governorate, which is the Idlib Governorate, have mixed classes with boys and girls, and the girls are extremely uncovered, especially in my school. It is not possible, indeed, a person cannot do anything but speak with them through the lessons. What is the ruling of the Shari'ah in this? Please inform us, may Allah reward you a thousand times?

The Shaykh : What is obligatory for you, O brother, is to seek a school that does not have this mixing that you described the state of its people to be, because that is a great trial, and it is not permissible for a person to expose himself to trials, for a man may trust himself before he falls into the trial.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : One might say, "I am guarding myself, and I do not lean toward this thing, and I hate it," but if he falls into the snares, they will catch him. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded whoever hears about the Dajjal to stay away from him, to distance himself from him.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : And he said that a man will come, and he sees himself as a believer, but he will be misguided by the doubts that are cast upon him.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : In any case, we say, O brother, it is obligatory for you to seek a school that is not in this state. If you do not find a school except in this state, and you are in need of studying, then you read and study, and you strive as much as you can to stay away from immorality and trial, such that you lower your gaze, guard your tongue, do not speak with the women, and do not look at them.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you.
