With the multitude of parties and groups, is it permissible to take the positives of every group without joining them?

The questioner : The questioner:The questioner : He says: You may see what we see of the state of Muslims today and the existing sects, such as the Salafis, the Sufis, the Tabligh, and others, and these sects are pulling in different directions... He says: I want to be like a bee that takes the sweetness from all these groups without joining them; so what is your opinion on this? And what is your role in unifying the Muslim front, especially since the enemies of Islam are united?
The Shaykh : As for our role in unifying the Muslims; this is an obligatory matter, but the problem that many Muslims overlook, or rather are ignorant of, and especially the young people who are zealous for Islam, but they are confused, they say: What is the path to unity? Or we say: Unifying the Muslims is something that must be striven for, but on what basis is this unity to be? Is it on the basis of keeping everything old as it is—as is said—or on the basis of the saying of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He):[An-Nisa 4:59]? Whoever calls people, or calls Muslims, to unite and to have one word on a methodology other than this Qur'anic methodology; he is, first: contradicting the Qur'an, and second: he will not reach his goal, even if he lived the life of Noah (peace be upon him), because the matter is as it was said:
"You hope for salvation but do not follow its paths *** For the ship does not run on the dry land"
You want to unite the Muslims, and among the Muslims today there is one who disbelieves in your Book, by saying: This noble Qur'an has a deficiency of about three-quarters, or four-quarters. So this is a Muslim, and perhaps he prays and fasts and gives zakah; so how do you unite with him while he contradicts you in the essence of the creed, in the Book of your Lord, and claims that there is a deficiency in it?
And the examples are many and very many, so everyone who wants, or is keen on, unifying the Muslims, must remember that this unity must be based and tied to the principle:[An-Nisa 4:59], this is first.
And second: this confusion that he referred toThe questioner : where he is being pulled by— he says— many sects and parties, the answer to this is in the hadith of our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), which is authentic from him that he said:, the answer to this question is in the hadith of the sects, in which the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said: . They said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1984Hasan (Darussalam), in the other narration: . So you, the one who is confused and being pulled by sects and parties, know that the path to salvation is to be upon what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and his noble Companions were upon, and especially among them the Rightly Guided Caliphs; at that time the confusion will be swept away from you and you will walk together on a straight path.
Today we live with old ideas and differences, and they alone are enough to cause us confusion and division; so what about the fact that differences have increased in the present age with many and very many matters, some of which are methodological, and some are jurisprudential, so what is the salvation?
Returning to what the Messenger (peace be upon him) was upon, and therefore we emphasize this, and we are certain that there is no way to the unity of the Muslims except if they unify their methodology, and their methodology— and praise be to Allah— Allah said, the Messenger of Allah said, and the matter is finished, so whoever wants salvation will take the path that leads to it as we mentioned earlier.

And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result.
فإن تنازعتم في شيء فردوه إلى الله والرسول إن كنتم تؤمنون بالله واليوم الآخر ذلك خير وأحسن تأويلًا"You hope for salvation but do not follow its paths *** For the ship does not run on the dry land"
