Studying the Book and the Sunnah is the path that leads to the straight path.

The questioner : Another person says: There is no doubt that studying the Book and the Sunnah is the path that leads to the straight path, but at the present time, that is hindered. This is due to the number of scholars who are dedicated to it, and the many who have branched out in teaching the correct Book and Sunnah; so what is the solution?

The Shaykh : The solution is: Fear Allah as much as you are able. If—regrettably—there are no scholars teaching hadith and the Sunnah in terms of jurisprudence and terminology, then you, the youth, must establish this severed knowledge. Therefore, we rely on our youth more than we rely on our elders, because these elders studied in the old way, where most of their concern was studying the science of theology, logic, and the like, whereas it was obligatory for them to study the science of hadith and hadith terminology. But this knowledge does not actually give people a job, a livelihood, or a salary. Therefore, you will find that the masses of scholars turned away to study the sciences that qualify them to obtain a job from which they can earn a living. So if, as he said,The questioner : it is difficult, then only the best of men bear the difficulties.
