Fatwa No. ( 4911 ):
Q: We trust in your eminence and find comfort in your fatwas, and we ask your eminence to read this book and issue a ruling on it, as it is distributed to many people who worship Allah with the invocations and remembrance contained in it. We want to know: Is it permissible to worship with what is in it, or not?
A: It is not permissible to worship in accordance with what is in this book—the *awrad* of the Baramiyyah method—because it includes reciting the Qur'an for the dead, specifically for certain deceased individuals, in the hope of their blessing, as is the case with the *Fawatih* of the people of the chain. It also contains the innovation of making the recitation of the *Fawatih* for these individuals a key to the *awrad*. Furthermore, it contains the innovation of specifying a time for this dhikr and setting a number of one hundred repetitions for the *Basmalah* and one hundred repetitions for the dhikr with the word "Ya Da'im" (O Everlasting), in the foundational text that is recited after Fajr and after 'Asr. This is because it is not established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he set a limit for this in terms of time or number. Rather, it is not established from him that he drew near to Allah by repeating the *Basmalah* in isolation, nor that he remembered Allah with the word "Ya Da'im" in isolation. It also contains seeking nearness to Allah through the Throne, the Footstool, and the Prophetic Light in supplication, under the title "The Noble Protection and the Ghuthiyyah." And what is in
the Great *Hizb* is the mention of innovations and supplications, and seeking nearness to Allah through the disjointed letters at the beginnings of surahs and through names of unknown meaning that are not Arabic, such as *Kad Kad*, *Karrad Karrad*—*Kardah Kardah*—*Dah Dah*—*Baha Baha Baha*—*Bahya Bahya Bahya*—*Bahiyat Bahiyat Bahiyat*. And what is in the Prayer of Ibn Mashiish are deniable words, such as his saying about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "And nothing exists except that it is connected to Him, for if it were not for the intermediary, it would have vanished, as it is said: the middle one." And his saying in the supplication: "(And pluck me from the mud of tawhid and drown me in the eye of the sea of wahdah, until I see not, hear not, find not, and feel not except Him...)" and so on. And what is in it is seeking nearness to Allah through the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his household, al-Shafi'i, al-Badawi, al-Rafai, and calling for aid from other than Allah, which is in a poem under the title "(Tawassul)"... and so on of the innovations of shirk, the means of shirk, and superstitions. Accordingly, it is not permissible to worship with these *awrad*, and every Muslim must worship in accordance with what is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in terms of reciting the Qur'an, the dhikr, and the supplications established from him in his Sunnah. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his household, and his Companions.
