He narrated from al-Layth that he made him swear an oath between the Rukn and the Maqam, saying: "Did you hear these hadiths that you narrate from Jabir from him?" He said: "Yes, by Allah, I heard them from him." I say that perhaps Muslim relied on this narration and thus included Abu al-Zubayr's narration from Jabir; what is your opinion, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh: My opinion is that I do not ... [regard] this narration [as sufficient], but perhaps you know, along with me, the narration of al-Layth ibn Sa'd; do you know it?

The Shaykh: Fine; it serves as a reinforcement for that one; because al-Layth's narration is reassuring in that he asked him: "Did you hear all of Jabir's hadiths from him?" He said: "No, I heard some of them, and some are from what I did not hear." He said to him: "Then teach me the hadiths that you heard from him," and he taught him. So al-Layth's hadith from Abu al-Zubayr is considered valid, but as for whether he heard all of Abu al-Zubayr's hadiths in the narration you mentioned just now, I do not know it, but I say that if it is authentic, it is explained by al-Layth's narration from Jabir ... .
