Is it sufficient to read some verses from Surat al-Sajdah and Surat al-Dahr in the Fajr prayer on Friday?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it permissible to recite some verses from Surat al-Sajdah and Surat al-Dahr in the Fajr prayer on Friday?

The Shaykh : As for sufficiency, it is sufficient to read only Surat al-Fatihah. However, the recommended practice (sunnah) is not achieved except by reading Surat al-Sajdah in its entirety in the first rak'ah and Surat al-Dahr in its entirety in the other rak'ah.
Rather, I will say something: Intentionally reading part of Surat al-Sajdah on the assumption that Surat al-Sajdah was prescribed to be recited in the Fajr prayer on Friday because it contains a prostration; this would be an innovation in matters. That is: it is not permissible for a person to intentionally read the section containing the prostration, even if, for example, he reads the section of the surah in two rak'ahs and necessarily performs the prostration. This intention is not permissible; because we do not know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Surat al-Sajdah because it contains a prostration. Rather, the most likely view—as Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah and others say—is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this surah and that one because of what they contain of reminders of the Hereafter, the Resurrection, and the like.
Therefore, the imam either performs the recommended practice (sunnah) in its entirety; that is, he reads each surah in its respective rak'ah, or he reads whatever is easy of the Qur'an after Surat al-Fatihah. The matter is broad, as we said. If he reads only Surat al-Fatihah, his prayer is sufficient. However, if the intention is the recommended practice (sunnah), the recommended practice is to read the two known surahs.
