Some Methods of Receiving Knowledge.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: Praise is to Allah; we praise Him, seek His help, and seek His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our own souls and from the evil of our deeds. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can mislead, and whomsoever He leaves to mislead, none can guide. And I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger.
O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him].
[Ali 'Imran 3:102]
O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer.
[An-Nisa 4:1]
(70) O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice. (71) He will [then] amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great attainment.
[Al-Ahzab 33:70-71]
As for what follows:
Indeed, the best of speech is the speech of Allah, and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and the worst of matters are their innovations, and every innovation is a religious innovation, and every religious innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire. And after that—also:
Among the methods mentioned in the Book and the Sunnah for receiving knowledge is asking about what concerns the Muslim, regarding matters of his religion and understanding the Shari'ah of his Lord (Blessed and Exalted is He). As stated in His saying (Mighty and Majestic):
So ask the people of the message if you do not know.
[An-Nahl 16:43]
, and as in the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the hadith mentioned in some of the Sunan, such as "Sunan Abu Dawud" (may Allah have mercy on him), from the hadith of Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), concerning the story of the man whose head was gashed, who was fighting alongside some of the Companions against the disbelievers. Then he had a wet dream one night. When morning came and he realized he had had a wet dream, but he had wounds on his body from some of those battles, he asked the Companions around him whether they found a dispensation for him not to perform the full ritual bath due to his wounds. They issued a ruling that he had to perform the bath. He complied with their ruling and performed the bath, and that was his death and destruction. When the news of his death in this state reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)—may Allah have mercy on you—he answered them, or said (peace and blessings be upon him):
They killed him; may Allah kill them! Did they not ask when they were ignorant? Indeed, the cure for ignorance is asking.
.
The point is that he then said (peace be upon him), in the completion of the hadith which is established by the combination of two or more chains:
It was enough for him to perform tayammum
Sunan Abi Dawud 336
. The point of the hadith is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught people the obligation to ask the people of knowledge, applying the previous verse:
So ask the people of the message if you do not know.
[An-Nahl 16:43]
. Accordingly, we have often proceeded in many of our gatherings to receive questions from some of our brothers present, so that we may direct the answer to them if we have any knowledge about them. Accordingly, if some of our brothers present have some questions, I hope to hear them, so that we may cooperate with some of the professors present in answering them—if Allah wills (Blessed and Exalted is He)—... If the questions are written, that is perhaps better, and if it is not possible except to direct the question directly, there is no harm in that.
Please.
