. . . with this matter; as if he says: Do not forget to recite the dhikr of the evening or the morning, or something similar?

The questioner: ... with this matter, as if he says: Do not forget to recite the dhikr of the evening or the morning, or something similar?

The Shaykh: I understood you; the hadith you mentioned does not fit the example you are currently discussing; because we will say: What is the ruling on teaching these people? Is it permissible or not permissible? Teaching them the morning supplication, the supplication of the market, or something similar?

The questioner : It is permissible.

The Shaykh: So; we say: Teaching is permissible and reminding is permissible, as for the hadith you are citing, it is an explanation from the Messenger (peace be upon him) that so-and-so sneezed and praised Allah, so we responded to him, whereas that other one sneezed but did not praise Allah, so we did not respond to him; here your question does not apply: Why did he not teach him or remind him? Because this matter occurred after the event; because the Messenger responded to one and not the other, and he explained the reason why he responded to one and why he did not respond to the other, whereas a man—for example—entered upon us and said—and this happens in some Arab countries—he said: May Allah touch you with good, and they said to him: Peace be upon you; there is nothing wrong with this; because it reminds him that the greeting comes before speech, so the reminder does not contradict the hadith you mentioned in the analogy; provided that it is not made a habit and a custom ... .

The questioner: Not made a habit?

The Shaykh : How?

The questioner: Not made a habit?

The Shaykh: Yes, and a custom.

The questioner: Meaning he leaves it off sometimes and does it sometimes.

The Shaykh: Yes.
