What is your opinion of some of the young men who abandon their studies and work on the pretext that there are some wrongdoings, and who claim to be people of hadith?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The Shaykh said: What is your opinion of some of the young men who abandon their studies and work on the pretext that there are some wrongdoings, and who claim to be people of hadith? Is this truly the practice of the people of hadith, the righteous predecessors?

The Shaykh : There is something in the question that did not become clear to me, unless he meansThe questioner : that all the studies held today in all the schools and all the universities contain violations of the Shari'ah. This is a statement that is refuted against its owner. Because reality—praise be to Allah—still contains much good, as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) indicated:
A group of people from my Umma will always remain triumphant on the right path and continue to be triumphant (against their opponents). He who deserts them shall not be able to do them any harm. They will remain in this position until Allah's Command is executed لا تزال طائفة من أمَّتي ظاهرين على الحقِّ لا يضرُّهم مَن خالفهم حتى يأتي أمر الله
Sahih Muslim 1920
. And if he meansThe questioner : by this statement or by his question to point to what exists in some universities of the mixing of men and women, women with men and men with women, then this is the truth, and there is no way to deny it, because it is a wrongdoing. Because separating men and women is a Sunnah that the Muslims received from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), generation after generation. You know his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): The best rows of men are the first ones, and the worst of them are the last ones, and the best rows of women are the last ones, and the worst of them are the first ones. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) separated and distinguished between men and women in the best of places, which are the mosques. As came in the authentic hadith that he was asked (peace and blessings be upon him) about the best of places and the worst of places? So he waited until Jibril (peace be upon him) came down to him and said: خير البقاع المساجد ، وشرُّ البقاع الأسواق The best of places are the mosques, and the worst of places are the marketsAl-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 2:17. So if the best of places are the mosques, as he said (peace and blessings be upon him), and yet he distinguished between men and women in them, then there is no doubt that such a separation should be in those universities even more so and more so. Because those universities, the least that can be said about them, even if they are upright in their programs and their curricula, are not the best of places. Because the Prophet said: إنما خير البقاع المساجد Indeed, the best of places are the mosques. So they are more deserving that separating men and women be part of their program, if the questioner is pointing to this. Then this is the truth, there is no obscurity in it. *** So leave me alone regarding the intentions of the people of the path. The questioner : If he is pointing to this, then this is the truth, there is no obscurity in it. *** So leave me alone regarding the intentions of the people of the path.
Yes.

The questioner : Note: In our studies here in the Kingdom, this mixing does not exist.

The Shaykh : So what are they denying? And this is what I pointed to, that the Ummah is still in goodness. And so the question, if it is taken at face value, is an error, or else there is in the personThe questioner : something that he did not express well. And so the answer is within the limits of what we heard and what you heard.

The questioner : It seems to me that I understood it to be an exaggeration by some of the young men of this awakening. They left work and turned to the Sacred House of Allah, and I met some of them in some of the previous Ramadans.

The Shaykh : They do not study in...

The questioner : They do not study and they do not work.

The Shaykh : This is a deviation from the correct Sunnah, which includes his saying (peace and blessings be upon him). I will mention now two hadiths on this occasion. The first is his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): ما اجتمعَ قومٌ في بيتٍ من بيوت الله No people get together in a house of the houses of AllahSunan Abi Dawud 1455 in a mosque of the mosques that... يتلون كتاب الله ويتدارسونه بينهم إلَّا نزلت عليهم السَّكينة ، وغشيتهم الرحمة ، وذكرهم الملائكة فيمن عنده reciting the Book of Allah, and learning it together among themselves, but calmness (sakinah) comes down to them, (Divine) mercy covers them (from above), and the angels surround them, and Allah makes a mention of them among those who are with Him.Sunan Abi Dawud 1455. And the other hadith: that in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) there were two brothers; one was seeking knowledge, and the other was working for a livelihood. So this one complained to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about his brother, the seeker of knowledge, saying: He does not work, he only seeks knowledge. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) admonished him with a gentle phrase, where he said (peace be upon him): وما يدريك ؟! لعلَّك تُرزق به And what do you know? Perhaps you will be provided for through him. And what do you know, O scholar, who earns by the labor of your right hand and the sweat of your brow, where you spend on your Muslim brother because he does not work as you work? Because it is permissible for the sake of seeking knowledge. He said (peace and blessings be upon him): And what do you know? Perhaps you will be provided for through him. So seeking knowledge, as we hinted at in a hadith mentioned previously: من سلك طريقًا يلتمس به علمًا سَلَكَ الله به طريقًا إلى الجنة Whoever takes a path upon which he seeks knowledge, then Allah makes a path to Paradise easy for him.Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2682.
And now answer the mu'adhdhin.
