The Difference Between Belonging to the Methodology of the Righteous Predecessors, to the Community, and to the Path of the Believers, and Belonging to a Person, a Group, or a Party.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : ... You belong to the methodology of the Righteous Predecessors. As for those whom we condemn for their partisanship, it is not merely an action on their part, but a testimony from them: the Tahrir Party, the Muslim Brotherhood, and many of them acknowledge political pluralism. We say: Comparing one who belongs to the methodology of the Righteous Predecessors to these groups is of the nature of what I quoted to you from Ibn Hazm. Based on his school of thought in rejecting analogical reasoning (qiyas) in its entirety and in detail as a principle—though he sometimes contradicted this when necessity forced him to resort to the very qiyas he had rejected in its entirety and in detail—based on this rejection, when he debated his opponents, he would say to them: "This is qiyas, and all qiyas is invalid. Even if there were truth in it, this would be the very essence of falsehood." We do not adopt Ibn Hazm's statement in rejecting qiyas absolutely, but we take a lesson from his words that there are instances of qiyas that are, as Ibn Hazm said: "Even if there were qiyas, this would be the very essence of falsehood." For example, it is well known in the Hanafi school of jurisprudence that if one speaks during prayer while in a state of forgetfulness, his prayer is invalid, by analogy with the one who does so intentionally. Here, Ibn Hazm's statement applies: "This is invalid qiyas, an analogy between one who is not held accountable and one who is held accountable; this is the very essence of falsehood, just as if one who kills by mistake were compared to one who kills intentionally."
In summary: They are not equal, for example, one who belongs to the methodology of the Righteous Predecessors is not like one who belongs to a person or a group.
-- Another questioner: Peace be upon you.The Shaykh : And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings...
The intention is that every party on earth does not share our belonging, for we belong—as we said earlier—to the Ummah. He, the Exalted, said:
You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah.
[Ali 'Imran 3:110]
. We belong to these, who are the Righteous Predecessors. We belong to the community that the Messenger (peace be upon him) made a distinguishing mark between one who claims to follow the Book and the Sunnah merely as a call, and one who confirms it by his belonging to the distinguishing, distinguishing, and saving mark from the misguided sects. As you know, his saying (may Allah's prayers and blessings be upon him), when he mentioned the authentic hadith and said:
and my nation will split into seventy-two, all of which will be in Hell apart from one وستفترق أمَّتي على ثلاث وسبعين فرقة ، كلُّها في النار إلا واحدة
Sunan Ibn Majah 3993Sahih (Darussalam)
. They said: Who are they, O Messenger of Allah? He said:
It is the Jama'ah. هي الجماعة
. We belong to this community, so the other parties do not share our belonging. Therefore, it is correct for me to say:
"This difference between us is sufficient for you, *** And every vessel emits what is in it."
Thus, we belong to the infallibility, to the community, to the path of the believers—the path that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) made, by the explicit text of the Noble Qur'an, that whoever departs from their path will be thrown into Hellfire, and evil is his destination. He, the Exalted, said:
And whoever opposes the Messenger after guidance has become clear to him and follows other than the way of the believers - We will give him what he has taken and drive him into Hell, and evil it is as a destination.
[An-Nisa 4:115]
. Thus, we belong to the Ummah, to the first community, to the community of infallibility from going to a sect of the misguided sects. We belong to the path of the believers, which, according to the testimony of the Qur'an, whoever opposes it deserves to enter the Fire. How then is it correct to be said to us: You are like those whom you condemn for their partisanship? They are not equal!
So now I say the decisive word: Every Muslim who agrees with us on what we concluded during our dialogue—and I do not say during our debate, but during our dialogue—concluded that the Muslim cannot but say: I am upon the Book and the Sunnah and upon the methodology of the Righteous Predecessors. I say: Everyone who knows this reality is with us that whoever disavows this belonging is not a Muslim; because he contradicts the Book and the Sunnah and the consensus of the Ummah. It is not so for the one who says: I am not a Brotherhood member, I am not a Tahrir member, and so on; no responsibility is attributed to him at all. The reason for this is that these people belong to a person or to persons, but these persons do not represent the righteous community mentioned in the Noble Qur'an.
I think with this the answer is complete to the saying of the one who says: You are like the Muslim Brotherhood! Because, in brief, I say: The one who says this does not have this explanation in his mind at all. But if we sat with him in a calm session, even if it were like our session while we are not sitting but... walking; if he sat with us in such a session, the reality would change for him, and he would say: Truly, there is a clear difference, like the sun in the middle of the day, between one who belongs to the Righteous Predecessors and one who belongs to others. And in conclusion, I say:
"This difference between us is sufficient for you, *** And every vessel emits what is in it."
If there is anything left in the quiver, I hope you will emit what is in it!
