Until when will the scholars sit and say: this is an authentic hadith, and this is not authentic, and this is a Sunnah, and this is an innovation; for the Salafi methodology is a long path

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The question says: Until when, O honorableThe Shaykh : will the scholars sit and say: this is an authentic hadith, and this is not authentic, and this is a Sunnah, and this is an innovation; meaning that the Salafi methodology is a long path, and the enemies of Allah are lying in wait for us; so is it not possible to shorten this path?

The Shaykh : This question is in the Syrian dialect and refers to the first question, and my answer to this is an authentic Prophetic hadith. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting with his Companions when he drew a straight line on the ground, and drew short lines on both sides of the straight line, then he recited the words of our Lord (Blessed and Exalted is He):
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way
[Al-An'am 6:153]
.
thisThe questioner : And those before them, and how many there are in this age! The reason is that they abandoned the methodology of the righteous Salaf, and they cling to an Islam that has no concept in our minds at all, only an Islam of "La ilaha illa Allah" (There is no god but Allah), but what is the meaning of "La ilaha illa Allah"? They do not know, their elders do not know the true meaning of "La ilaha illa Allah," let alone their younger ones, to our great regret. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed his finger over this straight line and read the noble verse:
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way. This has He instructed you that you may become righteous.
[Al-An'am 6:153]
, then he said:
These are paths
, the short paths on the sides of the long straight path, and I say: the long one, from my perspective, clarifies the Prophetic diagram for what I will mention shortly. He (peace be upon him) said:
And these paths—that is, the short ones—and at the head of each of these paths is a Shaytan (Satan) calling to it.
.
I can say without exaggeration: that such advertisements today: have we not been content to say: authentic and weak hadith, Sunnah and innovation, sect and so on; these are the short paths themselves, if it were permissible for me to say: that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was an artist—meaning a skilled painter—I would say so, but he is too high for us to liken him to artists or painters; because he (peace and blessings be upon him), when he drew a long line on the ground and read the noble verse:
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways
[Al-An'am 6:153]
; meaning: the short paths, he drew the line that the Muslim should walk upon, which is the long straight line, and he drew short lines around it which the Muslim must not take or tread upon. This is what we hear today, as you heard just now in this question: until when are we walking? It is enough for us to be walking and taking the straight path, but when will we arrive? That is in the hand of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He); therefore they lengthen this long rectangular line; they find it long. And did our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) not burden us with more than two things? First: that we know:
And know that there is no god but Allah
, and second: that we act:
Great is hatred in the sight of Allah that you say what you do not do.
[As-Saf 61:3]
. So if the Muslim walks the path of knowledge as he (peace be upon him) said:
Whoever takes a path upon which to obtain knowledge, Allah makes the path to Paradise easy for him.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2646Sahih (Darussalam)
, no matter how long this path is, we are not obligated to take the right and left and follow the short paths claiming that these short paths will lead them to achieving Islam. Evil is what they think, evil is what they say. Islam, as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Paradise is surrounded by hardships, and the Fire is surrounded by desires.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2559Sahih (Darussalam)
. So the lengthening by some people today of this call to the Book and the Sunnah and warning against innovation, what do they mean? That you worship Allah however you wish or however you are ignorant, or must you act as He (the Exalted) said:
And know that there is no god but Allah
, and then act upon what Allah taught you? The truth is that such questions alone are a sign of evil for those who have not yet realized that their obligation is to learn Islam and act upon Islam, no matter how long the path is. And I am pleased, on this occasion, as I mentioned in some previous gatherings, with the saying of one of the pre-Islamic poets, one of the poets of the pre-Islamic age; he said a word from which Muslims today should take a lesson; where he said:
"My companion wept when he saw the path before him, *** and he was certain that we would catch up with Qaysar
So I said to him: Do not let your eye weep, *** we are only trying for a kingdom, or we die and are excused."
This pre-Islamic man consoles his brother and says: Do not let your eye weep, we are only trying for a kingdom, or we die and are excused.
We are trying to walk on the path that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) commanded us, and then if we are able to establish the Islamic state, that is good and excellent, and that is a favor from Allah, and He is the One who said:
if you support Allah, He will support you
[Muhammad 47:7]
, and if we are not able to reach that, then it is enough for us that we have excused ourselves and presented what we have of ability, and
Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]
; so we must walk on the path.
And it is amazing that this verse, which every person knows, the general and the specific:
if you support Allah, He will support you
[Muhammad 47:7]
, this verse alone, if they had stopped at it, they would not have gotten involved in directing such questions; what is the meaning of
if you support Allah, He will support you
[Muhammad 47:7]
? Does it mean prepare an army to defend the Lord of the Worlds? Of course, no one says this ignorance, but rather
if you support Allah
[Muhammad 47:7]
; meaning if you take the Shari'ah of Allah and apply it, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) will help you against your enemies.
We are now hearing loud voices with enthusiasm that blinds them to the original; which is the call to jihad, and no Muslim denies the obligation of jihad, especially the jihad in Afghanistan, but who are those who were addressed by His (the Exalted) saying:
And prepare against them whatever you are able of power
[Al-Anfal 8:60]
, prepare for them, you Muslims who differ in the highest belief, which is Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He), you are still differing while the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah and the methodology of the righteous Salaf are in your hands!!
These people will not be able to do jihad, I say it frankly: the Muslims are still differing like this until they do not care to support Allah with beneficial knowledge and righteous action, so Allah will not support them; because Allah (Mighty and Majestic) does not break His promise:
if you support Allah, He will support you and plant firmly your feet.
[Muhammad 47:7]
, and the hadith in this area is great and much and very much, one hadith now I mention for you, how will the Muslims be victorious while what came in this hadith of the news has become true for them?
When you enter into the inah transaction, hold the tails of oxen, are pleased with agriculture, and give up conducting jihad (struggle in the way of Allah). Allah will make disgrace prevail over you, and will not withdraw it until you return to your original religion.
Sunan Abi Dawud 3462Sahih (Al-Albani)
, thisThe questioner : and what came before it does not want us to return to the religion which is the cure, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) described in this authentic hadith the sickness of the Muslims in some of its aspects, and presented the clear and decisive cure for this deadly disease, as for the sickness, he mentioned some of its dangerous types, saying (peace be upon him):
If you trade with 'inah (a buy-back sale used to disguise a loan), and take the tails of cows, and are content with the harvest, and abandon jihad (struggle in the path of Allah) in the path of Allah; Allah will impose upon you a humiliation which He will not remove from you until you return to your religion.
.
Every item of these four items, or every cause of these four causes, needs a stop and a long stop, but it is enough for me now the first cause; which is:
When you trade with ‘inah
. The 'inah today has spread and overflowed the Islamic lands; and yet they want jihad! Do you know what 'inah is?
'Inah is derived from the eye of the thing; the thing itself; and it is that a thing is sold while it is in its land for two prices; the price of the less and the price of the more, the higher price and the lower price, and it is that a man comes to a car dealer, for example, wanting to get fifty thousand riyals, and because of the disintegration existing today among the Muslims, the voices of some enthusiastic callers are raised ordering them to do jihad in the path of Allah, and they are disintegrated and scattered in the greatest scattering, one of them wants to borrow fifty thousand riyals and finds no one to lend him a good loan for the sake of Allah (Mighty and Majestic); so what does he do? He schemes, and with whom does he scheme? With the schemer; he comes to the big dealer and says: I want to buy this car; what is its price on installments? He says: fifty thousand. He says: I bought it, but I want to sell it to you in cash; for how much? He buys it from him for forty, thirty-five, it doesn't matter the subject, he takes the forty thousand in exchange for what? In exchange for fifty thousand; and this is the sale of 'inah!
Then some people resort to deception by introducing an intermediary into the matter. They go to a wealthy merchant who does not have the car they want but has a lot of money, and ask him for a loan of fifty thousand riyals for the sake of Allah. They say, “Go buy this car, and I will pay you the price.” So he goes and buys the car for fifty thousand riyals, and it is registered in his name for fifty thousand, while the wealthy merchant pays the car dealer forty thousand, and it is registered in his name for fifty thousand! All of this is a deception to consume what Allah has forbidden of riba (usury or interest).
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned in this hadith one of the causes by which Muslims are afflicted today. As for the remaining causes, they are clear to you, but this 'inah (a buy-back sale used to disguise a loan) is still considered permissible by many scholars in their fatwas, while the Messenger says:
When you enter into the inah transaction, hold the tails of oxen, are pleased with agriculture, and give up conducting jihad (struggle in the way of Allah).
Sunan Abi Dawud 3462Sahih (Al-Albani)
. These other three causes are clear to you. So if the other cause is added to them, what will be the outcome for these people who turn away from applying the rulings of the Shari'ah (Islamic sacred law), such as not competing for the worldly life, and not making lawful what Allah has forbidden through the slightest of deceptions, and abandoning jihad (struggle in the path of Allah) in the path of Allah? The punishment in this world before the Hereafter is:
Allah will make disgrace prevail over you, and will not withdraw it until you return to your original religion.
Sunan Abi Dawud 3462Sahih (Al-Albani)
. The cure, the treatment, is returning to the religion.
We must pause for a moment on this Prophetic cure, which is returning to the religion. We say to theseThe questioner : questioners—may Allah guide us and them—which religion did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) order us to return to? Without doubt, it is what He (Blessed and Exalted is He) said in the Noble Qur'an:
Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam
[Ali 'Imran 3:19]
. But here a question arises: Islam today has concepts, and these questioners are aware of the existing differences today, but they have become fed up because of their ignorance and lack of patience. They are fed up with this difference. Is it not possible to postpone the disagreement and face the enemies of Allah? It is not possible, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If you do such and such and such, Allah will impose humiliation upon you until you return to your religion. So now, returning to the religion, which is Islam, is the cure. With which concept do we return now? With the concept of the Salaf (the earliest generations) or the Khalaf (the later generations)? This plan must be entered into. With the concept of the Mu'tazilah (a rationalist theological sect) or the Maturidiyyah (the Maturidi theological school) or the Asha'irah (the Ash'ari theological school) or the Shi'ah (the Shi'ah) or the Rafidah (the Twelver Shi'ah)? These are realities that exist, and we cannot say, as is said about the ostrich, that because of its stupidity and negligence, when it sees the hunter, it puts its head in the sand; for it claims that as long as it does not see the hunter, the hunter does not see it! This is an example, and Allah knows best the reality of this animal, but the important thing is the example. So it is not right for us to ignore this painful reality. So what does this sick patient do? If you trade with 'inah (a buy-back sale used to disguise a loan) to the end of the hadith, this means that the sick Muslim community... so what is the cure? Returning to the religion. With which concept? Therefore, we keep repeating and live upon this call, and die upon it, never accepting any alternative to it: the Book of Allah and the Sunnah (the Prophet's way) of His Prophet, and upon the methodology of the righteous Salaf (the earliest generations).
Finally, I say: He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I have left for you two things by which you will not go astray as long as you hold fast to them: the Book of Allah and my Sunnah (the Prophet's way), and they will not separate until they come to me at the Pool.
. Perhaps in this is a reminder for theseThe questioner : questioners, may Allah guide us and them to the straight path.
Please proceed.
