The Salafi path is a long one, and its fruits are not reaped except after many years; how accurate is this statement?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says: In many of your writings and lessons, you repeat two words, "purification and education"; what is meant by these two words? Then he says, also: Some people see the Salafi path as a long one, and its fruits are not reaped except after many years, and this delays the progress of the Islamic movement and halts its path toward resuming a new Islamic life; what is your opinion? And then, also, a supplementary question similar to this: that the Salafis do not take the sayings of the previous Imams and scholars, but rather they brought something new?

The Shaykh : Excuse me, there have become many issues, and you are tiring me by having to memorize them, so one issue at a time?
First, regarding the first question, he asksThe questioner : What do you mean by "purification and education"? And I do not say purification and education except...
...a Prophetic hadith attributed to the Messenger that is not authentic, or a trait that is not Islamic, and people considered it part of Islamic morals, and this exists in Sufi morals in great abundance, and it exists in modern morals as well, of this kind in great abundance, likewise purifying the books of tafsir from Isra'iliyyat, where a single Isra'iliyyah would undermine the faith of a Muslim if he believed in one of them, and I do not want to enter into the details, this is what I mean by "purification," as for "education," it is that we educate ourselves, and we educate our children and our wives on this purified Islam, so what is wrong with that?
As for the statementThe questioner : That some people say that this means a long duration and a very long path; so I am reassuring them that this long path, however long it is, will not reach, by the permission of Allah, the duration that Noah (peace be upon him) spent with his people, a thousand years except fifty years, and he did nothing except that he said to them, as the messengers after him and the prophets likewise said, he only said to his people: "Worship Allah and avoid the Taghut." And my opinion is that those who consider this duration—which is unknown by nature—to be too much for the correct Islamic call—and it is our Salafi call—are as if they do not read the Qur'an, and if they do read it, it is like reciting poetry, and they do not contemplate it, and as if Allah did not say to them in His Book:
Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an, or are there locks upon [their] hearts? أفلا يتدبرون القرآن أم على قلوب أقفالها
[Muhammad 47:24]
, is there among these people anyone who believes that Noah's (peace be upon him) style of calling contained harshness, severity, and recklessness; and therefore he remained with his people for this long duration, and few responded and believed with him, or is the matter that the people were not willing to adopt his call—and it is a call of truth—and therefore the duration of his call was long, and few believed with him?!
There is no doubt that this second possibility is the reality, as for assuming that Noah (peace be upon him) had an inappropriate style, and was not wise; that is disbelief; because—as established in the authentic hadith—he was the first messenger Allah (Mighty and Majestic) sent to the people of the earth; so revelation was sent to him from the sky, so his style must have been the best of styles for the people who had not been sent to by the Lord of the Worlds (Blessed and Exalted is He) before.
So where did these people get the idea that the Muslim should choose the short path, and not choose the long path, if the long path leads to the goal, and the short path does not lead to the goal?! And among the wonders of the contradiction of these people is that this Salafi call, whose path is long and long, and we believe in this, and we thank Allah (Mighty and Majestic) for inspiring us to walk this long path; because it is the straight path. It is strange that these people contradict themselves, saying in the same thing that came in the question, and this chatter we have known for a long time from Akhzam—as it is said!—this hinders the resumption of Islamic life, so I wonder! What is the Islamic life that these people want to resume? Is it an Islamic life in accordance with what the Messenger (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him) was upon?—Stay with us, our brothers, let the man do his work for your comfort—, what do these people want by saying that this progress and this path that the Salafis take is long-term, and delays and hinders the resumption of Islamic life? What is this Islamic life? If it is the life of the Messenger (peace be upon him) and the Companions, and it is certainly so.
- Praise be to Allah.

Those present : All of them: May Allah have mercy on you.

The Shaykh : May Allah guide you and rectify your affairs.
If it is this life that these people seek with us to resume; is there a short path or a shorter path than this path that the Salafi callers take in all lands of Islam? If it were permissible for us to challenge them—and we are not on the path of challenging them—we would challenge them, and we would say to them: bring the shorter path that leads to the resumption of Islamic life as it was in the time of the Prophet (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him and his family), and we are with you for the whole line, but we affirm that the straight path is in this long line, and the short path is the winding line that deviates from the straight line, and this is your Prophet (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him and his family) as if he is drawing for you on the ground this difference in methodology in calling to Islam, and in the attempt to resume sincere Islamic life, it came in "Al-Mustadrak" by Al-Hakim and others with a strong chain from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him) drew for us one day a straight line, and drew around it short lines on its sides, then he recited (peace be upon him):
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way وأن هذا صراطي مستقيمًا فاتبعوه ولا تتبعوا السبل فتفرق بكم عن سبيله
[Al-An'am 6:153]
, then he said (peace be upon him):
This is the path of Allah. هذا صراط الله
- the long straight line -
This is the path of Allah. هذا صراط الله
, he said: and these are the short paths on the sides of the straight line,
And at the head of every one of these paths is a Shaytan calling people to it وعلى رأس كلِّ طريق منها شيطان يدعو الناس إليه
, and I used to say—and I still do—that among the many, many signs of his prophethood (peace be upon him) that cannot be counted is this drawing alone; because he drew a long straight line, and drew short lines on its sides, and described this straight line as the path of Allah, and described the short lines around it and on its sides as the paths of Satan, and that on every one of these short paths is a Satan calling those walking on the straight line; come, come, where are you heading? And how long will you continue? Look at this path, how short it is! Is there not in this a sign from the signs of the Messenger (peace be upon him)? He looked to the future with the insight that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) gave him, so as if he is saying: the Muslims will differ in the path that they must take to restore Islamic life, and achieve the Muslim state, so some will take the straight line and not care about the discouragers and doubters around them, and so on, he will keep walking straight until he reaches the goal, and he is not obligated to reach the goal, but he is obligated to continue with the goal before his eyes, so if he reaches it; by the praise of Allah, and if he does not reach it; he dies having excused himself to Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He).
As for those who respond to the call of the devils, look at these short paths, and this path is long, so leave this path and come to us, do they mean now after they have known this hadith and this beautiful image that the Messenger (peace be upon him) depicted, that they return to denying the Salafi callers that their path is long, praise be to Allah who guided us to walk this straight path however long it is, because the truth is that a man from the pre-Islamic age was wiser than many of the Muslims today, and even their callers! Who is that man? It is that famous poet known as Amr ibn al-As, when he said—I am not a poet, so help me—:
"My companion wept when he saw the road ahead ***
And he thought what?

The questioner: And he was certain that we ***

The Shaykh: *** And he was certain that we would catch up with Qaysar
So I said to him: Do not let your eye weep, for we *** are only striving for a kingdom, or we die and are excused."
What is this, people? He has intellect, he does not have faith, but he has intellect, and he is striving for the sake of this world, but he is sensible.
"We are only striving for a kingdom, or we die and are excused."
We are more deserving— we Muslims— to strive to revive Islamic life in the Muhammadan way. If we achieve it, praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. If we do not achieve it, we will be excused by Allah— Blessed and Exalted is He.
Perhaps I have answered the question, or is there something left?
