Continuation of the discussion on the issue of fasting on Saturday.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : ... because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who used to fast one day and break the fast the next, that does not mean he did not receive the reward for that fasting which he did not perform. It is possible to believe even more than that; it is possible that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) broke his fast on a certain day, he received the reward for fasting that day. Why? Because he broke his fast for a legitimate Shari'ah purpose, which is to clarify the Shari'ah for the Ummah. And we follow our Prophet (peace be upon him)—and this is the point—so when the time comes to fast one of the previously mentioned days, such as Tuesday, Thursday, Ashura, 'Arafah, or one of the white days, and it happens to fall on a Saturday, we leave off fasting that Saturday because of this hadith. We hope that Allah will record for us the reward of fasting that day, even though we did not fast it.
I think you have not heard this statement before, so listen to it today and in the end times. We hope that Allah will record for us the fasting of Ashura or the Day of 'Arafah which we did not fast. Why? Because it fell on a Saturday. What drives you to this hope in the favor of Allah (Mighty and Majestic)? My knowledge that the scholars say that the Messenger fasted and broke the fast, prayed or did not pray, and his reward is recorded for him; because it is a clarification of the Shari'ah. We say: when we break our fast on a Saturday, and it coincides with one of those virtuous days, we ask Allah and hope in His favor that He will record for us the fasting of that day, even though we did not fast it. The previous evidence is an inferential proof, and many people may not understand it, but I will bring a proof that is fully detailed regarding what we are discussing, which is His saying (peace be upon him):
Whoever leaves something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better than it. مَن ترك شيئًا لله عوَّضه الله خيرًا منه
. So we left off fasting the Day of 'Arafah or Ashura because it coincided with Saturday. Why? Because the Messenger said:
apart from days when you are obliged to fast إلا فيما افتُرِضَ عليكم
Sunan Ibn Majah 1726Hasan (Darussalam)
. And this is not obligatory, so we left it off for the sake of Allah. So Allah will compensate us with something better than it.
I think you have received the answer, and it is doubled—also—and not just that.
Al-Halabi : Yes, may Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : And beware of that.
