The Importance of Organization in Da'wah and Education, on the Condition That Nothing Contrary to the Shari'ah Is Mixed with It
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : They say that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) designated a specific day for women to admonish and teach them. This is undoubtedly a form of organization: designating a day for women to admonish and teach them is organization. A shaykh who wants to deliver a lesson in tafsir, a lesson in hadith, a lesson in language, and so on, must organize these lessons and require his students to attend at the scheduled times. Schools, institutes, colleges, and universities today are all within the scope of organization. However, if something contrary to the Shari'ah enters into this organization, such as the mixing of men and women or young men and young women, this is organization, but it is contrary to the Shari'ah. Likewise, if a group wants to organize itself in the path of calling to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), there is absolutely no obstacle to that. But if they stipulate, for example, the pledge of allegiance (bay'ah) and the obligation to obey the leader (amir) just as the general Muslim population is obligated to obey the first imam, i.e., the caliph, this is a void condition. This is something the Shari'ah does not recognize and Islamic jurisprudence does not recognize, and so on. Therefore, we can say: there is organization, and there is no organization. The organization that aims only to convey knowledge by the shortest path, without anything contrary to the Shari'ah being mixed with it, is something that no one with any intellect or knowledge would contradict. As for the organization that includes a condition from among these conditions I have mentioned, this is undoubtedly not a prescribed organization. Especially since we have witnessed the effects of these organizations that included some conditions contrary to the Shari'ah, which caused Muslims to become divided into factions that hate one another. As the Lord of the Worlds said: [Al-Mu'minun 23:53]. These have a leader, so what he orders them to do, they must obey. And those have a leader, so what he orders them to do, they must obey. The opinion of this one clashes with that of the other, so the two leaders clash, and then the two groups clash. We have suffered in this country from some of the effects of this leadership. When Allah (Mighty and Majestic) decreed for us migration from Damascus to here, and the da'wah began to launch, and the Salafi youth began attending the circles of lessons, it was as if the Muslim Brotherhood was afraid for its members, so they made a decision to boycott Shaykh al-Albani and his lessons. So, when we passed by a young man we knew to be Muslim, whom we knew greeted us and attended our lessons, if we met him, he would turn away and keep his distance. What was the story? They made a decision to boycott al-Albani and his lessons. I met one of their leaders when I was leaving the mosque after prayer, and I said to him, "O Shaykh, what is this?" He said with a smile, "It is a summer cloud that will soon disperse." And indeed, a considerable period passed, about a year and a half or two years, and then things returned to their normal course. What led them to this? This condition of obeying the leader. It is a void condition. This is what I wanted to remind you of on the occasion of that question. And we ask Allah (Mighty and Majestic) to gather the Muslims who are eager to follow the Book and the Sunnah truly, upon what our righteous predecessors (Salaf) were upon.
each faction, in what it has, rejoicing.
