His saying (peace and blessings be upon him): “Or a drink of honey.”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : This is cupping. He (peace be upon him) said:
If there is any effective remedy amongst your remedies, these are (three): Cupping, drinking of honey إن كانَ في شيء مِن أدوِيَتِكُم خيرٌ ؛ ففي شَرْطَةِ مِحْجَم ، أو شَربةٍ مِن عَسلٍ
Sahih Muslim 2205b
As for honey, it is sufficient that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) mentioned it in the Qur'an and said:
in which there is healing for people فِيهِ شِفَاءٌ لِلنَّاسِ
[An-Nahl 16:69]
From the perspective of modern foreign European medicine, honey holds a different status than cupping. Cupping is unknown and unrecognized among them, while Muslims, unfortunately, follow them in this regard. As for honey, many and very many writings have begun to appear in the scientific field today. Many European doctors and others mention in them many benefits of honey, and that honey is used in treating many diseases. Naturally, we mention this not to confirm the benefit of honey; for after the words of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), a Muslim does not need confirmation. Rather, I say this to clarify the difference between cupping and honey today, in terms of Western medicine's ignorance of the benefit of cupping and its beginning to know the benefits of honey.
