The Refutation of Some Who Accuse the Salafis of Making Ijtihad Obligatory on Everyone, and Other Accusations

Eid Abbasi : Our opponents fabricate false lies against us, and we are constantly repeating our innocence of them. They claim that we dislike the four Imams, that we cast aspersions on them, that we make independent legal reasoning obligatory on every Muslim, and that we order everyone to be a scholar qualified to derive rulings and that it is not permissible for them to follow a scholar without knowing his evidence. This is injustice and fabrication, and we have long explained its falsity and our innocence of it. Yet they do not fear Allah, and they persist in attributing this to us. Allah is a witness that we are innocent of it, as it is said: "The wolf is innocent of the blood of the son of Ya'qub." Although our books are full of clarifying this reality, some of them—for example—wrote a book filled with proof that following a scholar without knowing his evidence is permissible, and with evidence that it is permissible and obligatory for some people. All of this is used to refute the Salafis and to mislead others into thinking that they deny following a scholar without knowing his evidence. This is a heinous injustice. Even though it has been clarified to him and proven to him that the Salafis say that the ignorant person must follow a scholar without knowing his evidence, they persist in this. This reveals the malice in their hearts, and the hatred, bias, and great injustice in their hearts.
