The questioner : And we seek refuge in Allah from the evil of our own souls and the badness of our deeds. Whoever Allah guides is the one who is rightly guided, and whoever He leaves astray, you will find no guiding guardian for him. And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger, His chosen one from among His creation and His intimate friend. O Allah, send blessings and peace upon him, upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance until the Day of Judgment.
Brothers in Islam, we have gathered in one of the houses of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He), not bound by any kinship between us. What has gathered us is Islam. So we ask Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) that our hearts may be united upon Islam, that we may live upon Islam, and that we may die in the cause of Islam. Our guest tonight is the hadith scholar and jurist, the honorable Shaykh Muhammad Nasir al-Din al-Albani. We consider him among the scholars who act upon their knowledge, and Allah is his accountant. We believe that to be the case, but we do not declare anyone pure before Allah. So please, let him honor us with a lecture on this night, and let us address any questions that may arise from some of us. We ask Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) to help him in answering, and to grant him health and well-being in service to Islam and for the benefit of the Muslims. So please, let him proceed, and may he be rewarded.

The Shaykh : Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings.

Those present : And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

The Shaykh: Praise is to Allah; we praise Him, seek His help, and seek His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our own selves and from the badness of our deeds. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can misguide, and whomsoever He leaves to misguide, none can guide. And I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger,
O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him].
[Ali 'Imran 3:102]
,
O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer.
[An-Nisa 4:1]
,
(70) O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice. (71) He will [then] amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great attainment.
[Al-Ahzab 33:70-71]
. As for what follows:
Indeed, the best of speech is the speech of Allah, and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and the worst of matters are their innovations, and every innovation is a religious innovation, and every religious innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire. And after that:
Two suggestions were made to me. One was to improvise a speech containing a reminder, for a reminder benefits the believers. The other suggestion was for me to take charge of answering the scientific questions that our brothers present may have, which they need to know about and whose evidence they need to learn from the Book of Allah and the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I saw fit to combine the two suggestions by improvising a speech in which I hope Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) will grant me success in speaking the truth, which the listeners may benefit from, if Allah wills. After that, with His permission (Blessed and Exalted is He), we will proceed to answer the questions.
