The Shaykh : As for the following hadith, it is authentic, and with it we conclude these hadiths for this night. It is his saying: And from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) — he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:
The fatigue of the believer is an expiation for his sins وَصَب المؤمن كفارة لخطاياه
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 14:30
It was narrated by Ibn Abi al-Dunya and al-Hakim, who said: The chain of narration is authentic. This is as if it is an abridgment of the first hadith, which was from Abu Sa'id and Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with them both):
Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that: The Messenger of Allah said: "Nothing afflicts the believer, whether fatigue, grief, disease - even a worry that concerns him - except that by it, Allah removes something from his bad deeds." ما يُصيب المؤمن من نَصَبٍ ولا وَصَبٍ
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 966Sahih (Darussalam)
to the end of it. He said at the end:
Allah will expiate for him thereby some of his sins إلا كفَّرَ الله له بها من خطاياه
Here, he summarized it and said:
The fatigue of the believer is an expiation for his sins وَصَب المؤمن كفارة لخطاياه
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 14:30
And after this — if Allah wills — there are other hadiths that we will recite in the next lesson, whatever is feasible of them.
This is sufficient for now, and all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds. Now we will listen to the questions you have.
