The meaning of al-Tahawi's statement: "The Creator without need, the Provider without cost."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : ... second, and that is that they worship Him - Blessed and Exalted is He - and affirm His oneness, and do not associate anything with Him. The author's statement "Creator without need" refers to the need that a person experiences when he pursues a certain objective; he is in need of it, and this establishes that he is poor and in need. Since Allah - Mighty and Majestic - is the One who is free of need from all creation, it is correct to describe Him as a Creator without need. However, this does not negate that He has a profound wisdom in His creation, and He has explicitly stated this wisdom in the previous verse:
And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.
[Adh-Dhariyat 51:56]
; therefore, there is no contradiction between the author's statement "that Allah is a Creator without need" and what the previous verse indicates, namely that Allah created the creation for a wisdom and a purpose; which is that they worship Him - Blessed and Exalted is He.
And "Provider without burden"; because Allah - Mighty and Majestic - is not tired by anything, any thing, as indicated by some of the known noble verses, such as.

The questioner: its sufficiency is:
I do not want from them any provision
[Adh-Dhariyat 51:57]
.

Eid Abbasi : ... .

The Shaykh: Yes.

Eid Abbasi :
Your creation and your resurrection will not be but as that of a single soul
[Luqman 31:28]
.

The Shaykh: And in it are verses of the...
and that is [even] easier for Him
[Ar-Rum 30:27]
, - also -, what is the verse...? No; no, no
and that is [even] easier for Him
[Ar-Rum 30:27]
; the important thing is that Allah - Mighty and Majestic - and this is in reality what confirms to the Muslim that the attributes of Allah in their reality differ completely from the attributes of humans. No matter how strong a person is, no matter how active he is, if he works and persists in work, fatigue and weakness will overtake him. As for Allah - Mighty and Majestic -, He created all these heavens and earths and what is in them, and as He said:
and there touched Us no weariness.
[Qaf 50:38]
; therefore, the attributes of Allah - Mighty and Majestic - in their reality are other than the attributes of His servants - Blessed and Exalted is He -; and among that is that He is "Creator without need and Provider without burden"; meaning: without cost, without hardship, and without fatigue.
