Writing amulets and charms from the Qur'an

Question: What is the ruling in the Shari'ah regarding writing verses from the Qur'an and carrying them with the intention of protection from problems or gaining the affection of a person?

Answer: This is not permissible according to the most correct of the scholars' opinions. It is not permissible to write the Qur'an in the form of amulets and charms and hang them on people, because the Qur'an was not revealed for this purpose. What has been transmitted is that the Qur'an is recited for the afflicted and the sick. As for writing it in the form of charms and amulets and hanging it on a person, even if there is no harm in it, but out of fear that something may befall him, this is not permissible according to the most correct of the scholars' opinions. This is because there is no evidence for it, and because it is a means to the desecration of the Qur'an, and a means to writing things other than the Qur'an, such as polytheistic incantations and unknown phrases. If this door is opened, it will not be limited to writing the Qur'an; rather, forbidden and polytheistic matters will be written, as is the reality with many ignorant and corrupt people. Therefore, this door should not be opened; rather, it should be closed, and the Book of Allah should be protected from such treatment. And Allah knows best.
[Mosques and Graves]

Question: There was a mosque that had an imam, and this imam made a will before his death that when he died, they should bury him in front of the qiblah of the mosque. Is this valid? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.

Answer: This will is invalid, because it is not permissible to bury people in mosques, nor in front of their qiblah. It is obligatory that this person be buried in the cemetery with the people.
As for burial in mosques, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited it, and he prohibited making mosques over graves, and he cursed whoever did so. This was in the context of death, warning his Ummah and reminding them (peace and blessings be upon him) that this was the practice of the Jews and the Christians. And because this is a means to associating partners with Allah (Mighty and Majestic) through the owners of these graves. People come to believe that the owners of these graves buried in the mosques are able to benefit or harm, and that they have a special status that warrants drawing near to them with acts of worship other than to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). This is the practice of idol worshippers and the practice of polytheists.
And it is obligatory for Muslims to beware of this dangerous phenomenon, and that mosques be free of graves and established upon tawhid (the oneness of Allah) and correct creed,Allah the Exalted said:
And [He revealed] that the masjids are for Allah, so do not invoke with Allah anyone.وَأَنَّ الْمَسَاجِدَ لِلَّهِ فَلَا تَدْعُوا مَعَ اللَّهِ أَحَدًا
[al-Jinn: 18] .
Mosques must be for Allah and free of the manifestations of shirk (associating partners with Allah), where the worship of Allah alone, who has no partner, is performed. This is the obligation of Muslims. And success is from Allah.
