The Conditions for the Acceptance of Worship

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.

To proceed: This is the ninetieth session of the Open Door sessions, which take place every Thursday of every week, and this is the twentieth Thursday of the month of Dhul-Qa'dah of the year (1415 AH).
Today's session will cover the description of 'Umrah and Hajj in brief, and in the other sessions we will speak about the pillars and obligatory acts of Hajj and 'Umrah, and then about the prohibitions of ihram, if Allah wills.

It is known to us all that worship is not completed except with two conditions: The first condition: sincerity to Allah.

The second condition: Following the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).

The evidence for this is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truthوَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ حُنَفَاءَ
[Al-Bayyinah: 5] So, (sincere to Him in religion) is this sincerity, and (Hanif) is this following, and in the two Sahihs from 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Actions are only by intentions, and every person will have only what he intended).
And in Sahih Muslim from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), that Allah the Exalted said: (I am the most free of any partner from having a partner. Whoever does a deed in which he associates with Me someone other than Me, I leave him and his association). This is the sincerity.

Following: It is also established in the two Sahihs from 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: (Whoever does a deed in which there is no command of ours, it is rejected),And in a wording: (Whoever introduces into our matter something that is not part of it, it is rejected). So, sincerity and following are necessary.
And following is not realized except by knowing how the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) used to do things, so that we may be followers of him. For this reason, we should, while we perform acts of worship, keep these two matters in mind: sincerity and following.

Sincerity: By not seeking in our worship anything but the Face of Allah and the Hereafter, and by also feeling that we are obeying the commands of Allah,For example: when performing wudu', we perform wudu', washing the parts that are washed and wiping the parts that are wiped, but we should keep in mind that we are obeying the saying of Allah the Exalted:
O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your facesيَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا قُمْتُمْ إِلَى الصَّلاةِ فَاغْسِلُوا وُجُوهَكُمْ
[Al-Ma'idah: 6] and so on.
So that the sincerity, submission, and humility to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) are complete.
Then we also keep in mind that we are following the Messenger (may the prayer and peace of Allah be upon him) in this; because this is what we were commanded to do,As Allah the Exalted said:
There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent patternلَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ
[Al-Ahzab: 21].
