The duration of wiping over leather socks while traveling

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
His Eminence the Shaykh: Does the wiping over leather socks while traveling have a specified duration exceeding three days?
It is established in the Sunnah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that the duration for the traveler is three days without restriction. It is also reported from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) that he would wipe as long as he wished. However, the correct view is the first one, which limits it to three days for the traveler and one day and one night for the resident, unless there is a dire necessity. For example, if one is in a cold country and fears that removing the socks or leather socks will cause harm or pain to his toes, then there is nothing wrong with him continuing to wipe.
