The Ruling on the Military Salute and the Ruling on Greeting with a Gesture

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
What is the ruling on the military salute, knowing that it is mandatory for the soldier?
Combining the verbal greeting with a gesture is permissible,For example, he says: "Peace be upon you," but striking with the foot has no basis whatsoever, and one should not strike with the foot, for it may affect his foot or affect the ground beneath him if it is made of wood or the like. However, we ask Allah, the Exalted and Sublime, to guide the Muslims to abolish such matters, and to look to those who preceded them from this Ummah, not to those who lagged behind them from the present nations. We are Muslims, and it is more fitting for us to follow the guidance of the Muslims,If he passes by, he says: "Peace be upon you," and if he is far away, he combines the gesture with the words, and if he is deaf, he also combines the words with the gesture for him. As for doing otherwise, such as limiting oneself to the gesture only, that is an error.
Then, I have seen some soldiers who began to greet in a strange manner, placing their hand on their chest. We ask Allah to guide the responsible officials to follow the guidance of the righteous Salaf,If the officer passes by him, he must greet him and say: "Peace be upon you," because this brother of his is a Muslim, even if he is of a lower rank,And the second one says: "And upon you be peace," and by Allah, if they did this, it would be a supplication, an act of worship, a reward, and a merit. Now, the entire army is accustomed to supplicating for their safety,So is it better for us to say: "Peace be upon you," because they all desire safety. So we ask Allah, the Exalted, to make the responsible officials aware of this matter, and for them to have a specific emblem, which is the emblem that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions had.
