The Meaning of Jihad in the Path of Allah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And what is jihad in the path of Allah? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned jihad in the path of Allah with a measure of just balance that is not biased. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about a man who fights for bravery, fights for tribal pride, and fights to be seen in a high position; which of these is in the path of Allah? He said:
Whoever fought so that the Word of Allah is supreme, then he is in Allah's cause. من قاتل لتكون كلمة الله هي العليا فهو في سبيل الله
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1646Sahih (Darussalam)
So when a person comes to us, or we find a group fighting for tribal pride, or for bravery, or to be seen in a high position and to be known as brave, they are not fighters in the path of Allah. The fighter in the path of Allah is the one who fights so that the word of Allah is the supreme one.
