Repeating Surahs in Prayer for One Who Does Not Memorize Others

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q

His Eminence the Shaykh: A man who loves to stand in night prayer but does not memorize from the Qur'an except simple things; he prays six rak'ahs at night, reading (Say, He is Allah, the One) ten times in the first rak'ah, and in the second rak'ah he reads (Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of the Daybreak) ten times in every rak'ah,And after that, in the last two rak'ahs he reads: (Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind) and we advised him,And we tried with him and he refused and said: We must give the question to the Shaykh; is there any blame on him for his practice?
There is no blame on this man who knows only these three surahs along with al-Fatihah and repeats them; he owes nothing for this.

The questioner: Not clear? The Shaykh: There is nothing wrong with it, and there is no obstacle, but if he repeats (Say, He is Allah, the One) ten times, he should not repeat (Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of the Daybreak) ten times, because the second rak'ah would be longer than the first.

The questioner: No, in the first two rak'ahs he reads (Say, He is Allah, the One), and in the second two rak'ahs (Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of the Daybreak).

The Shaykh: I understand, but how many times did he read al-Ikhlas in the first rak'ah?The questioner: Ten times.

The Shaykh: And in the second, did he read al-Falaq?The questioner: No, al-Ikhlas ten times.

The Shaykh: Two rak'ahs with (Say, He is Allah, the One), ten times in the first and ten times in the second? The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: And the third? The questioner: (Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of the Daybreak) ten times.

The Shaykh: There is no obstacle,Because Allah said:
So recite what is easy of itفَاقْرَأُوا مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنْهُ
[Al-Muzzammil: 20] But can he read from the mushaf? The questioner: No, he is an uneducated illiterate.

The Shaykh: There is no obstacle in that.
