The Shaykh’s warning about errors in placing the hands in prayer and raising them.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As I ask you, and many others do this, the intention of the advice is not a specific person, but the matter is as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said, as you know:
Religion is advice, religion is advice, religion is advice الدين النصيحة ، الدين النصيحة ، الدين النصيحة
. They said: For whom, O Messenger of Allah? He said:
For Allah, His Book, His Messenger, the leaders of the Muslims, and their common people. لله ، ولكتابه ، ولرسوله ، ولأئمَّة المسلمين ولعامَّتهم
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 57:53
. This is the first observation, but the completion of the advice—and this is an observation—because saying "do not do this" is negative; you must tell him what he has to do. If he is not to do it this way, then what do we do? There are two sunnahs: either placing the hands or grasping them. Instead of doing it this way, he places his palm on his arm, or he grasps them. So, it is either placing on the arm or grasping. As for holding the upper arm, there is no basis for this in the Sunnah. This is the first point.
And the other point is also: if it is not true of one person, it is true of tens of people when they rise from the bowing; they raise their hands, except for a few of them. But this raising is almost not a raising. What are they doing? For example, one who is bowing hears "Allahu li man hamidah" (Allah hears the one who praises Him); this is not a raising. The raising should be either like this or like this—two forms: either level with the ears or level with the tops of the shoulders. As for me raising [my hands] when hearing "Allahu li man hamidah," this is not play or frivolity. Most people are heedless of this, but it is a reminder, and the reminder benefits the believers.

The Shaykh : As for my advice to Zakariyya when he has time for us, it is coming, if Allah wills.

The questioner : If Allah wills.

The Shaykh : So that we can hang it.
