The ruling on a man giving his wife the choice to relinquish some of her time to the second wife or to be divorced

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
There is a man married to two women, and discord arose between him and one of them, so he gave her a choice between two things: either he releases her, or she remains with him on the condition that she relinquishes some of her time to the second wife?

There is no harm in saying: I cannot be just between you two; if you wish to remain with me as things are, or if I divorce you, he has that right. The evidence for this is that Sawdah bint Zam‘ah (may Allah be pleased with her) was advanced in age and felt that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would divorce her, so she said: O Messenger of Allah! I have given my day to ‘A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), and I have given her day to ‘A’ishah. So the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) would allocate to ‘A’ishah two days: her own day and the day of Sawdah that she relinquished (may Allah be pleased with her). There is nothing wrong with this.
