Rebuking the one who rejects the rejection of evil
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
O Shaykh, may Allah preserve you! What is your opinion of the one who objects to the men of the Committee for Promoting Virtue and Preventing Vice while they are reminding people of prayer, saying for example: What is it to you and what is it to the people? The man is a trustee over his religion?
It is true that a person is a trustee over his religion; but if he wants to neglect his religion, do we agree with him on that? If we see people who have opened the doors of their shops while people are praying, we must forbid them from this, and if we see someone doing an evil deed, we must forbid him.
But if a person says to us: He has fasted Ramadan,We do not say: You must fast before our eyes! Because a person is a trustee over his religion,or he said: I have paid the zakah, for he is a trustee over his religion,So we do not say: You must pay it while we are watching! As for watching a man doing an evil deed and leaving off an obligatory duty, we must enjoin good upon him and forbid him from evil.
