Is al-Hafi among the names of Allah?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is al-Hafi among the names of Allah?
The Shaykh : Huh?
The questioner : Al-Hafi.
The Shaykh : It is in the Noble Qur'an[Maryam 19:47] and I do not know that it was mentioned in an absolute sense among the names of Allah the Exalted. Rather, it is qualified. Instead of a person supplicating by saying, "O Al-Hafi, be compassionate to me," he should say, "O Ar-Rahim, have mercy on me." And if it is regarding a sin, he should say, "O Al-Ghafur, forgive me," and the like. Yes.
The questioner : May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh. This questioner says.
The Shaykh : Huh?
The questioner : Al-Hafi.
The Shaykh : It is in the Noble Qur'an
Indeed, He is ever gracious to me.
