The ruling on naming a son al-Qasim and giving a father the kunyah Abu al-Qasim
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
What is the ruling on naming a child al-Qasim and using the kunyah Abu al-Qasim?
There is nothing wrong with using the kunyah Abu al-Qasim; because the correct view is that the prohibition of it was only during the time of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), when people would call out:
O Abu al-Qasim,Until a man called out: O Abu al-Qasim, and I think the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned to him, so the man said: I mean your miswak, and this is not a trivial matter. For this reason, using the kunya Abu al-Qasim was prohibited during the time of the Messenger (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him), but there is nothing wrong with it after that.
