Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (And to Him belong the ships that sail upon the sea like mountains)]
Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Rahman: 24] And (to Him) means: to Allah, Mighty and Majestic, in terms of ownership, management, and facilitation, (the ships) with the yā' omitted for ease of pronunciation,And its original form is: al-Jawāri is the plural of jāriyah, which is a ship that moves upon the sea,As Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said: [Surat Luqman: 31] .
(that sail) means: those that their makers constructed so that they may travel upon them in the sea,And they said: (in the sea) is connected to (the ships) ,Meaning: the ships in the sea, and it does not appear to be connected to (that sail) -Meaning: the ships that are constructed in the sea- because ships are first built on land and then launched into the sea,And his statement: (like mountains) is a simile, and al-A'lām is the plural of 'alam, which is a mountain,As the poet said:
And indeed, a rock for which the guided follow, as if it were a mountain with a fire on its peak
Meaning: as if it were a mountain, and whoever has seen ships in the seas will see that this simile applies to them perfectly, for they are like mountains moving in the sea by the command of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. And Allah mentioned them specifically because they carry sustenance from one side to another, and were it not that Allah the Exalted facilitated them, there would be a loss of much good for the countries from which they are transported and the countries to which they are transported.
And in this age, Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, has made other ships, but they move in the air just as these move in the sea, and they are airplanes. So they are a favor from Allah, Mighty and Majestic, like His favor upon His servants in the ships of the seas,Rather, we might say: Indeed, cars are also ships of the land,So the ships would be of three types: maritime, terrestrial, and aerial, and all of them are among the blessings of Allah, Mighty and Majestic,And for this he said: [Surat al-Rahman: 25] meaning: which of the blessings of Allah do you two deny? The address is to humans and jinn.
Allah the Exalted said:
And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains.
وَلَهُ الْجَوَارِ الْمُنْشَآتُ فِي الْبَحْرِ كَالْأَعْلامِDo you not see that ships sail through the sea by the favor of Allah
أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ الْفُلْكَ تَجْرِي فِي الْبَحْرِ بِنِعْمَتِ اللَّهِ(that sail) means: those that their makers constructed so that they may travel upon them in the sea,And they said: (in the sea) is connected to (the ships) ,Meaning: the ships in the sea, and it does not appear to be connected to (that sail) -Meaning: the ships that are constructed in the sea- because ships are first built on land and then launched into the sea,And his statement: (like mountains) is a simile, and al-A'lām is the plural of 'alam, which is a mountain,As the poet said:
