The Criterion for the Permissibility of Backbiting

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Honorable Shaykh! I know a person who walks with young men, and he lies and steals. Whenever I want to point out the danger of this to the young men,They said: is it not backbiting if you do not mention his name?
This is a mistake. This falls under the category of advice. If you see a person doing something with someone that is not right, convey it to him. This is not backbiting nor talebearing. Mention his name. What is the benefit if you do not mention his name? ! Did you not know that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Fatimah bint Qays, when she came to him to inform him that three men had proposed to her: Mu'awiyah, Abu Jahm, and Usamah ibn Zayd, so she came to consult the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and he said to her: (As for Mu'awiyah, he is a pauper with no wealth, and as for Abu Jahm, he is a man who beats women. Marry Usamah) He pointed out the defects of these two men,One of them is a defect that a person has no choice in: which was that Mu'awiyah had no wealth,And the second: a defect that a person cannot avoid, and that he was a man who beat women. So he must make this clear to them.
