Knowing the Companions: The Right of Allah over the Servants and the Right of the Servants over Allah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
His Eminence the Shaykh: The hadith of Mu'adh ibn Jabal, in which he says: "I was riding behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on a donkey when he said: 'O Mu'adh! Do you know what is the right of Allah over the servants, and what is the right of the servants over Allah?I said: Allah and His Messenger know best,He said: The right of Allah over the servants is that they worship Him and do not associate anything with Him, and the right of the servants over Allah is that He does not punish whoever does not associate anything with Him.I said: O Messenger of Allah! Should I not give the people good news?He said: Do not give them good news, lest they become complacent) Do the Companions know the right of Allah over the servants and the right of the servants over Allah?

They know it through the explanation of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him): "That they worship Him and do not associate anything with Him" Do you understand? The questioner: Meaning: Did they learn about this hadith? The Shaykh: They learned it after Mu'adh informed them, because Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him)When the Messenger said: (said, "Do not inform them, lest they become complacent") He feared that upon his death he might have concealed this hadith, so he narrated it in its exact wording. If he narrated it in its exact wording, there is no blame on him. But if he had not informed the people of it, the people would not have known it, and in that case, he would have been concealing a Sunnah from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
