The Duty of the Human Being in the Face of the Speed with Which Time Passes

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.

To proceed: We will limit this meeting to reminding you of the blessing of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) upon the pilgrims and those who perform the lesser pilgrimage this year, as the conditions were very suitable, and the people had some organization in the circumambulation, the walking between al-Safa and al-Marwah, and the stoning of the pillars, so much good was achieved, and praise be to Allah. We ask Allah the Exalted to accept from everyone, and we also remind you that this meeting is the last meeting of this year. How quickly the days and hours pass, ending all together, and this obliges the servant to remember that every coming thing is near. While we were saying: How far away the end of the year seemed, and then it passed quickly, and so is life. A person is now anticipating death and thinks it is far away, but he does not know; perhaps it will be near.Allah, Blessed and Exalted, said:
People ask you concerning the Hour. Say," Knowledge of it is only with Allah. And what may make you perceive? Perhaps the Hour is near."
[Al-Ahzab: 63].

O my brothers: It is obligatory for a person to account for himself: What did he deposit in the year in which only two days remain? And with what does he meet the years that come after it, so that he is fully prepared to make up for what he missed in the past year and to seek forgiveness and pardon for the evil deeds he committed? And the Book will be presented to the servant on the Day of Resurrection, and he will meet it spread out.And he is told:
[It will be said], "Read your record. Sufficient is yourself against you this Day as accountant."اقْرَأْ كِتَابَكَ كَفَى بِنَفْسِكَ الْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكَ حَسِيباً
[Al-Isra: 14] Account for yourself before you are accounted for, and seek help from Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) to perform His obedience and avoid His prohibitions.
