The ruling on one who catches the imam in prostration, waits until he stands, and then joins him
There are many worshippers who, when they enter the mosque, find that the imam has already risen from bowing. They wait until he stands, believing that they will not be rewarded for that and that they do not receive a reward?
I say: This is a mistake on their part;Because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (When you hear the iqamah, proceed to the prayer with calmness and composure. Whatever you catch, pray, and whatever you miss, complete it) So he says: (Whatever you catch, pray) and these people caught the prostration, so let them pray,And in another hadith, even though it is weak: (When one of you comes to the prayer and the imam is in a certain state, let him do as the imam does) and this is the most correct view that it is mawquf,But in any case: (Whatever you catch, pray) suffices for it, so they join him, they say the takbir of entering prayer, and they do not begin with the opening supplication, but they prostrate immediately. And if they prostrate, do they say takbir? In the view of our jurists (may Allah have mercy on them): That they do not say takbir when they prostrate,They said: because this is a transition to another pillar that does not allow one to catch the prayer,Also: a transition to another pillar that does not follow the pillar in which he is, which is standing. Therefore, if one catches the imam in bowing, he says takbir first for entering prayer, then says takbir for bowing. But in this case, he says takbir for entering prayer and then prostrates without takbir. However, if he says takbir, I hope there is no harm in it.
