Questions That Offer No Benefit

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Is the Angel of Death in charge of taking the souls of animals?
What is your opinion if I say that the Angel of Death is in charge of taking the souls of animals, or that he is not? What is the benefit of this?! Did the Companions ask the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about it? They were more eager for knowledge than we are, and the Messenger was more capable of answering than we are, yet they did not ask.Indeed, Allah the Mighty and Majestic said:
Say, "The angel of death will take you who has been entrusted with youقُلْ يَتَوَفَّاكُمْ مَلَكُ الْمَوْتِ الَّذِي وُكِّلَ بِكُمْ
[Surah al-Sajdah: 11] He is in charge of taking the souls of the children of Adam. As for the souls of other than the children of Adam, it is not established. Allah knows best.
But the most important point in answering this question is that a person should not be overly meticulous,The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Perished are those who are overly meticulous) So do not ask about something that offers no benefit. And by Allah, if there had been a benefit in knowing that the Angel of Death takes the souls of other animals, Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) would have clarified it, either in the Qur'an or the Sunnah, or Allah would have caused someone to ask the Messenger about it. This is why the Companions were happy when a Bedouin would come and ask about something that perhaps they would have been shy to ask the Messenger about. The bottom line, my brother, you and whoever is listening, I say: Delving deeply into these matters is an error;Because the Messenger said: (Perished are those who are overly meticulous) He did not say it once: (Perished are those who are overly meticulous, perished are those who are overly meticulous, perished are those who are overly meticulous) three times. In such matters of the unseen, take what is established and leave what is not mentioned.
And this is as he says, in such matters, it applies to what concerns the attributes of Allah, or even greater, and it is more fitting that we do not speak about them.Contrary to some students who say: We want to clarify matters of creed, so they ask about things in creed that the Companions did not ask about and that were not clarified in the Book and the Sunnah. This is also something from which one must be cautious. Perhaps you know what happened to Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) when the questioner asked him,And he said: "O Abu 'Abdullah,
The Most Merciful [who is] above the Throne established.الرَّحْمَنُ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ اسْتَوَى
[Surah Ta-Ha: 5] How did He rise above the Throne?" What did Malik do? Malik lowered his head, unable to raise it from the severity of what had befallen him, and he stood sweating profusely. Then he raised his head,And he said: "O this one! The rising above the Throne is not unknown, and the how is not comprehensible, and faith in it is obligatory, and asking about it is a religious innovation. He was an imam among the imams. So it is upon us, my brothers, to take from the matters of the unseen what is established with us, and to remain silent about the rest. If we had been obligated to know it, or if there had been a benefit in knowing it, Allah would have clarified it. Allah the Exalted said to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him):
And We revealed to you the message that you may make clear to the people what was sent down to themوَأَنْزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ الذِّكْرَ لِتُبَيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ مَا نُزِّلَ إِلَيْهِمْ
[Surah al-Nahl: 44] So the Messenger did not leave anything we need without clarifying it.
