Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Wisdom is placing things in their proper places; this is with regard to Allah the Exalted.Ibn al-Qayyim’s definition says: Is wisdom doing what is appropriate in the manner that is appropriate at the time that is appropriate, for the created or for the Creator, Blessed and Exalted is He?
For both the created and the Creator. Even a wise human being, if he acts and does not act except where action is good, he is wise. The poet says:
If you are in need of a messenger, send a wise one and do not give him instructions.
