[The Ruling on Imported Meats, Especially Those Labeled: (Slaughtered According to the Islamic Method)]
What is the ruling on imported meats?
It is lawful, provided we do not know that it was slaughtered other than in the proper manner. As stated in Sahih al-Bukhari, that a group of people came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him),And they said: saying: O Messenger of Allah! A group of people brings us meat, and we do not know whether they mentioned the name of Allah over it or not?He said: He said: "Mention the name of Allah yourselves and eat it." He did not say: "Ask them whether they mentioned the name or not?" So whenever meat comes from a land whose people are People of the Book, it is lawful, and you do not need to ask. The Committee of Senior Scholars investigated this issue several years ago and brought in the Minister of Trade and those concerned with this matter, and they asked them about the meat that arrives in the Kingdom,And they said: and they said there is nothing wrong with it, and that there is a body that monitors it and prevents anything whose neck has not been cut. But if you want to eat it, mention the name of Allah the Exalted.

The questioner: Some of it is labeled: Slaughtered According to the Islamic Method? The Shaykh: It is not necessary,But it appears that they write: to slaughter it according to the Islamic method, because they distinguish between what comes to Saudi Arabia, as they know its adherence to Islam, and other places, so they direct this to Saudi Arabia. As for what was mentioned that they once saw a fish in the cardboard, that is the first time anyone has said it; it requires proof. Then, even if it did happen, is it not permissible that this fish was packed in this cardboard because those who pack it do not know the Arabic language? This is permissible, and error is possible.
