[The Method of Reconciling the Hadith: “Even if a black slave from Abyssinia is appointed over you” and the Hadith: “The Imams are from Quraysh”]

Your Eminence! What is the method of reconciling the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family): “Obey and listen, even if a black slave from Abyssinia is appointed over you”,And his statement: “The Imams are from Quraysh”? And is it possible or permissible for a black slave from Abyssinia to be the Supreme Imam? And is there a Supreme Imam in this time?
Yes, if Allah makes it easy for the Abyssinian slave to be the Supreme Imam, let him be the Supreme Imam. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) only said that regarding the choice. If we want to choose an Imam for the Muslims, let us choose from Quraysh. But from Quraysh, whom? Those who upheld the religion. As for merely claiming descent from Quraysh or from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), it is not a virtue unless it is accompanied by the religion. If a man from Quraysh came to us and said: He is more deserving of the Imamate than others, and he is an open sinner.

We said: No,Because one of the conditions of the Imamate at the beginning of the appointment: He should be just. But if someone compels the people and rules over them, it is obligatory for them to listen and obey him, even if he is an Abyssinian slave whose head is like a raisin. So there is a difference between the choice and one who seizes power and takes control of the people by his strength. So here we say: We listen and obey, and we do not rebel except if we see clear disbelief, regarding which we have proof from Allah.
And there is no Supreme Imam, and this has been the case for a long time. The general Imamate was lost from the time and era of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). Did you not know that Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr was a Caliph in Makkah and al-Hijaz, and that the Umayyads were in al-Sham and its surrounding areas, and that another group was in Iraq? But whoever takes charge of a piece of land and becomes its Imam, he is an Imam.
