Among the harms of celebrating the Mawlid
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Among the harms of this religious innovation: Those who do this, especially the common people among them, believe that it is a Shari'ah and that it is religiously valid. They blame those who do not do it. Consequently, the known becomes unknown and the unknown becomes known, because those who hold these celebrations blame those who do not hold them. They say: They say, "These people do not love the Messenger!" Which is more loving: the one who follows him and does not innovate in his religion what is not part of it, and is well-mannered with Allah and His Messenger, so he does not precede Him or legislate what He has not legislated? Or the one who preserves the religion and does not perform any worship for Allah unless it is prescribed? The latter, without a doubt. Therefore, it is obligatory for students of knowledge to clarify to people that this is an abomination, that attending it is not permissible, and that religious innovation does not increase one in anything but distance from Allah. As one of the Salaf said: No people have ever innovated a religious innovation except that they were deprived of a similar amount of the Sunnah. This is true; every religious innovation deprives a person of a similar amount of the Sunnah, because every religious innovation is counterbalanced by a Sunnah. If the innovation is an action, the Sunnah becomes leaving that action. Consequently, what corresponds to the religious innovation is demolished from the Sunnah. So students of knowledge should clarify this to people and say: The reality of love is that its fruit is the reality of following.
We ask Allah to guide our Muslim brothers to follow the Sunnah and abandon religious innovation, and to open the hearts to the remembrance of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and to find tranquility in Him. Indeed, He is capable of all things.
