The Shaykh Al-Albani’s explanation of the wisdom of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in His legislation through blocking the means to harm.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : I add to this statement something else, which is that the Sunnah of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) in His creation does not change or alter. Misguidance does not move among people except as that poet said: "I see a crack... the flicker of a fire," "and it is likely to become a blaze, for fire is kindled from two sticks," "and war begins with words." And most of the fire comes from the one who considers the sparks insignificant. Great calamities do not befall a community except through their small preliminaries. This is a tangible reality. Imagine a village or town that has no cinema, and this was in the past; nowadays, we say it has no television. It is very difficult to find a place without women displaying their adornment, but as soon as a cinema or television enters a village, corruption begins to spread. Major shirk does not occur in a community except through the preliminaries of minor shirk. As mentioned in the transmitted exegesis regarding the statement of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) in Surat Nuh (peace be upon him), He said about his people:
(23) And said, 'Never leave your gods and never leave Wadd or Suwa' or Yaghuth and Ya'uq and Nasr. (24) And already they have misled many.
[Nuh 71:23-24]
Ibn Abbas said, as in "Sahih al-Bukhari," that these five were righteous servants of Allah, righteous. When they died, Satan whispered to them what he whispers today to those who spread idols in the courtyards and public squares in Islamic lands. These were righteous close friends of Allah who died, so you would fear forgetting them. Therefore, you did not bury them with the general Muslim graves; rather, you had to respect them and place their graves in the courtyards of your houses so that you would not forget their remembrance. Every time you left your houses, you would see them and remember their deeds and righteousness... From here, Satan entered upon them, and they made the graves distinct from the graves of Muslims, each one... He left them for a generation, then he came to the second generation and said, "The preservation of these graves is not befitting their status. Floods will come and sweep them away, destroying their traces, and you will forget them and forget their remembrance and deeds." Therefore, Satan said, "I see that you should make idols for them so that they remain with the days and the events of the days..." So they carved idols for them... and placed them in many locations. He left them like that for a generation. He came to the third generation, after their fathers and grandfathers and their children... from the righteous servants of Allah to the end, "It is not permissible for their idols to remain... You must build special houses for them..." And so they placed them. Then he whispered to them to sanctify them and revere them. And with the end, they forgot the original purpose that he whispered and through which he entered, and they worshipped them besides Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Allah sent Nuh (peace be upon him), and what happened is detailed in the same surah. Thus, major shirk did not enter any of the nations except through the path of minor shirk, and from that, the exaggeration regarding the prophets and the righteous close friends of Allah. For that reason, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), as you know, prohibited building mosques over graves, because it was a cause for the worship of those buried in them. Satan has managed to lead the people of Nuh (peace be upon him) to the sources of shirk and destruction by placing idols in a house in a special place. But he was more wicked with the Jews and the Christians when he whispered to them to bury their close friends and righteous ones in the houses where Allah alone is worshipped, having no partner. For this reason, it came in the authentic hadith that Umm Salama and Umm Habiba (may Allah be pleased with them both), when they returned from Abyssinia, mentioned a church they had seen in Abyssinia and mentioned the beauty and images in it. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
If any righteous pious man dies amongst them, they would build a place of worship at his grave and make these pictures in it; they are the worst creatures in the sight of Allah. أولئك كانوا إذا مات فيهم الرجل الصالح بَنَوا على قبره مسجدًا ، وصَوَّروا فيه تلك التصاوير ، أولئك شرار الخلق عند الله - تبارك وتعالى -
Sahih al-Bukhari 434
,
Those are the worst creatures in the Sight of Allah. أولئك شرار الخلق عند الله - تبارك وتعالى -
Sahih al-Bukhari 1341
; meaning: the Christians who made the graves of the prophets and the righteous into mosques are the worst of creation. But another hadith came clarifying that they are not the only ones who are the worst of creation in this means of shirk, for he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Indeed, among the worst of creation are those upon whom the Hour will be established while they are taking the graves of their prophets as mosques. إنَّ مِن شرار الخلق من تقوم عليهم الساعة وهم يتَّخذون قبور أنبيائهم مساجد
.
The student: Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
