Explaining the obligation to separate mosques from graveyards and explaining that this was the first cause of shirk (associating partners with Allah) appearing on earth.

The Shaykh : ... and whoever is led astray has no guide, and I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His messenger,
O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him].
[Ali 'Imran 3:102]
,
O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer.
[An-Nisa 4:1]
,
(70) O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice. (71) He will [then] amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great attainment.
[Al-Ahzab 33:70-71]
. As for what follows:
It has come in many hadiths, including what relates to this sermon, the Sermon of Necessity, from his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
and the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad.
Sahih al-Bukhari 6098
. And from his guidance (peace and blessings be upon him) is the separation between mosques and graves, the separation between mosques and graves, and keeping a distance between mosques and graves. This is because the graves were, at one time, a cause for people to fall into associating partners with Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) alluded to this in His saying (Blessed and Exalted is He) regarding the story of the people of Noah with Noah:
(23) And said, 'Never leave your gods and never leave Wadd or Suwa' or Yaghuth and Ya'uq and Nasr. (24) And already they have misled many.
[Nuh 71:23-24]
. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said, as in "Sahih al-Bukhari": These five were righteous servants of Allah. When they died, Satan inspired them to place their graves in the courtyards of their houses, and he made it attractive to them by saying that you would remember their deeds and their character and follow their example. They responded to his inspiration and obeyed him. And no one obeys Satan except that he is led astray, far astray.
Among the schemes of Satan against his enemy, man, is that he plots against him. He presents to him, before any of the misguidance of those who ascribe a body to Allah, a subtle misguidance, and he beautifies it in their minds, as you heard: "Place their graves in the courtyards of your houses." Why? This is the doubt that is raised today to justify placing statues in the large squares of some of those who claim to have national efforts, and yet they have no Islamic efforts whatsoever. They mislead people with such a Satanic suggestion that placing these statues in these squares causes people to remember their deeds, what Allah willed of their deeds!
Thus Satan beautified for the people of Noah the first step: "Place their graves in the courtyards of your houses." He left them for a period of time until the second generation came and found the graves among the house courtyards. He then beautified for this second generation that the graves remaining like those of ordinary people was not fitting for these five righteous men. So what should we do? He said: You should carve and make for them five statues, because they will remain with the ages, whereas these graves will be subjected to storms, winds, rains, and floods that will take them away, and with them will go what reminds you of the character and the righteous deeds. They also followed the inspiration of this Satan, as they did the first time, and they carved statues for these five and placed them in ordinary places. He left them for a generation of time until the third generation came. He said to them: You have learned from your inheritance from your fathers and grandfathers that these statues represent righteous men from among your men. It is not fitting for you to place their statues except in places that befit their status with their Lord. So they built for them houses resembling temples and placed them in high, elevated places. The fourth generation did not come except that they were worshipping these statues, prostrating to them besides Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He).
