What is your opinion on Ibn Taymiyyah’s classification of Sufism into Sunni and innovated?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah.

The questioner : You have troubled us, O our teacher.

The Shaykh: Excuse me.

The questioner : I have one of the brothers with me, and he has this question. He says: He leansThe Shaykh : toward Ibn Taymiyyah’s classification of Sufism into Sunni and innovated. So what is your esteemed opinion, especially since this view is now leaned toward by some Salafi callers, such as Dr. Mustafa Halimi, in many of his books?

The Shaykh : And this one is a Salafi?!

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : Mustafa Halimi is a Salafi?!

The questioner : He says he is a Salafi?

The Shaykh : What is the evidence for his Salafiyyah?

The questioner : [Asking the questioner] What is the evidence for his Salafiyyah?
The questioner: He writes about Salafiyyah.

The Shaykh : Ask this man who is asking this question: What is the evidence for his Salafiyyah?

The questioner : [Addressing the questioner] Speak withThe Shaykh .
The questioner: He claims to be a Salafi. He defends the affirmation of the attributes according to the methodology of the Salaf. He disparages the methodology of the Asha'irah. He affiliates himself with the methodology of the Salaf and constantly disparages those who have criticized the Salaf. He has written more about Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah in the recent period, and more than...

The Shaykh : Hello.

The questioner : Yes, my teacher, are you not hearing him?

The Shaykh : He is cutting off the speech.

The questioner : My teacher, I mean, he disparages... Speak, speak... I mean, my teacher, this man writes about the methodology of the Salaf.

The Shaykh : What books does he have?

The questioner : Ibn Taymiyyah and Sufism.

The Shaykh : This does not indicate that he is a Salafi, my brother. In any case, Sufism is not praised because it is Sufism, but what of it is in accordance with the Book and the Sunnah is what should not be rejected merely because it is called Sufism. It is certain that the school of one of the four Imams is stronger and safer than many of the statements of the Sufis. Just as there is in every school of the schools what agrees with the Book and the Sunnah, it is taken because of its agreement with the Book and the Sunnah, not because it is the school of one of the Imams. And if there is found in the school of one of these Imams what contradicts the Book and the Sunnah, it is rejected and refused, even if an Imam among the Imams said it. So it is said regarding Sufism: what agrees with the Book and the Sunnah is correct, and what contradicts it is not correct. But it should not be said that there is good Sufism and bad Sufism, because what is in the Book and the Sunnah suffices for all of that. This is my opinion and my belief.

The questioner : And his companion: May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : And to you.

The questioner: Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, my teacher. May Allah bless you. We are back here. Our brother Nu'man wants to inquire from you. Yes, Nu'man, is it possible? Regarding the issue, please go ahead.
